• Naturally placed Nether Portal links to my man-made Nether Portal counterpart

So, basically, I made my house and a portal close to my spawn, as I'm sure many have, and have been doing my mining and whatnot for some time now in pretty much one spot. Then, today, I decide to venture out from my spawn in a different direction, and come upon this Nether Portal just sitting there partially buried in the ground that I didn't make. I know this is normal, but when I go through it I come out in the same portal in the Nether that I arrive at when using my man-made portal. The two portals in the overworld have at least a chunk or two's worth of space between them. Also, I'd assume the natural portal was generated with the initial map generation, as it was pretty close to my spawn (over a hill), so I'd assume that it's been there since before I even made my own portal (although I suppose it's possible it was just made today when I may have forced the game to generate a new chunk). And every time I've come back to the overworld, I've arrived at my man-made portal, including the one time I came back after having discovered the the natural portal. So I guess I'm asking if this has ever happened to anyone else before, and if it means anything significant.
This keeps happening to me since the Nether patch was released. Notch still hasn't fixed it.
Is the portal in the nether near lava? If you portal through into the nether and there is only lava in that spot, it will move the portal to the nearest piece of solid ground. It's likely that both of the portals in the overworld send you to that same lake of lava and the closest solid ground is the same for both.

Well this sure is strange...
Are you by any chance , using a world seed ,because I use that and That exact thing happened to me ! I think however made the seed Put a nether Portal in there when they made it.
Woah, um, check the dates? How do you even find topics this old without noticing that? But, anyway, using a world seed? I made the world before it even allowed you to input a seed to generate the world from.
