What is EzMod?
EzMod is a computer program I wrote that allows you to download mods and game files in a manner similar to the program steam (http://store.steampowered.com) Steam makes downloading games easy and I thought getting mods should be easy too. EzMod uses my forum as a directory for mods.
How can I download?

Just extract and run the exe.
How can I add a mod or file?

If you have a map or mod that you like, please add it to EzMod, it is as easy as a forum post, as it is a forum post to add one.
For pics: see my post below: http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1097052-EzMod-The-steam-for-maps-skins-configs-and-more.?p=30417021&viewfull=1#post30417021
Posted 2 hours ago and not a single response and took a while to program. :smithicide:
I think it's a cool idea :unsmith:
Well do you atleast have some pictures? I don't trust anything from something I never heard of.
Sounds pretty awesome to me.
I'll take and post some pics now.

Looks like a shitty Visual Basic web browser that auto downloads to a game folder.

It doesn't just download, in will extract zip's of mods and installs them. The downloading system of this is better than your web browser cause it has a queue, so it will download the next mod after the first mod is done.
I'm no artist, if someone whats to take their shot at the UI, I'd help them.
it looks pretty cool but it's something i wouldn't download
Like the Curse client for MMOs

I haven't heard of that one, but I used other digital distribution as a models. Desura only covers the huge hl2 mods, not all the skins and maps that are being created daily.
Desura didn't only covered the huge hl2 mods, not all the skins and maps that are being created daily.
I only have used Desura so far, that said though, I have not used auto updating for maps or skins before. I only got Desura after Missing Information was invited to use it. While I have nothing to bring to the table, I am just going to have to see how it behaves.
I would get it if it were more visually appealing and had obvious benefits and advantages over what we normally do.

I wasn't clear, Desura only covers the huge hl2 mods, not all the skins and maps that are being created daily.

The benefits are no searching for the directory to install, just clicking download in my program and have it autoinstall. Also this could help someone get more widespread use of their mod as people can get it here. I will do some research on UI design today, do I can make it visually appealing. I'll use any program if it does the job right, not the prettiest UI. I can't stand how in current steam you have to use a drop down menu in the library to select tools, I want most functional.
I'm not sure using a forum is the best solution

I don't know php yet so i can't program my own content management system. If you have a better idea please share it.

I know C++ and a bit of PHP and C#, and these languages have some similarities imo. Depending on the language you used to develop your application, it wouldn't take you too long to make a very simple content management system with php. You could generate a txt/xml file containing name, image link, download link of every content. Then you get that list from the server and display everything inside your app.
Oh my god this looks like everything I ever wanted!
I like it, but can you anchor the web browser to make it look full screen?

You can in my newest unreleased version. I'm formating my computer today and I'll release it today here after that's done. It has autosizing code for most of the program. I'm glad people are interested in this.

Thanks for the ideas, I might implement a system simular. It's written in VB 2008 cause that's what I learned last semester.
