Alright facepunch, this thread is about one of my favorite game series: " Dungeon Siege " . I think that these games were extremely underrated and deserve a proper thread. Dungeon Siege: Information Dungeon siege is a role playing game developed by Gas powered games and published by Microsoft. It was announced at E3 2000 and released in 2002. Setting: The Dungeon Siege games take place in the Kingdom of Ehb in the continent of Aranna. The Kingdom of Ehb is at the western side of Aranna and is near the Plain of Tears. The Kingdom of Ehb has many different types of terrain including Valleys, icy mountains, swamps, deserts, deep forests, cliffs and volcanoes . The main inhabitants are Dwarves and Humans. You can also encounter the "Krug" and the undead " Droog " The map of the Kingdom of Ehb . Plot At the beginning of the game, you are just a farmer in a small community in the Kingdom of Ehb, this quickly changes when your community is attacked by the Krug. Your character is tasked with going to a nearby town, Stonebridge to find help. You discover that your farm was not the only place that has been attacked by the Krug, the entire kingdom is filled with these evil creatures. Your character must then travel, along with any other companion he/she has recruited along the way to Castle Ehb to stop the " Seck " a race of humanoid monsters that were imprisoned underneath the castle but are now awake. Along the way you fight many monsters, including a large dragon by the name of Scorch. In the end you have to go underneath the castle and enter the Seck lair to fight Gom, the leader of the Seck. Gameplay The combat is a mixture of point and click action and pause-and-go. If you've played some of the Ultima games its similar, and its a little similar to Diablo and Nox. The game is quite linear, so theres usually tons of monsters and your constantly fighting unless your in a town or someplace. You can also form parties of up to 8 players ( 7NPC's and you . ) and you can also get a mule, which will help carry equipment for all the party members. I haven't played the game in a while but I'm pretty sure you can control each of your party members. Multiplayer I never really played multiplayer that much as I could rarely get it working, so I'm just using alot of content from wikipedia for this section. There is a co-op multiplayer campaign which both takes place and is titled "Utraean Peninsula". It re-uses the single campaign's monsters, with few name changes for boss creatures, and a new enemy type for the final dungeon. It also features a quest-line in which the players have to journey through several towns, helping its inhabitants, and locate several magical stones, called the Townstones. The Utraean Peninsula contains a secret "Chicken level". The multiplayer campaign culminates with the players placing the Townstones in their slots and opening the dungeon, where the Maljin race of monsters has to be defeated. Expansion packs/ Bonus packs Dungeon Siege: Legends of Aranna was the official standalone expansion pack for Dungeon Siege. It was developed by Gas Powered games and published by Microsoft like the original Dungeon Siege. It also comes with the full version of Dungeon Siege. Story: The game is set in Aranna again and you are another farmer. The farmer always heard stories of great heroes who traveled across the Kingdom battling the Krug. Your characters lost parents were also adventurers. Your character in the city of Arhok is ready for his own adventure while a powerful creature named Shadowjumper appears and steals an artifact called the "staff of stars" that your character must retrieve. Your player, thats following the trail of Shadowjumper finds his way at a Utraean Island, the island is covered with ancient cities, jungles , and caves. Roaming the island are creatures like the Hassat ( large humanoid cats ) and the the Zaurask ( lizard people ). You fight many creatures and bosses like the Lost Queen, Cicatrix, the centaur deathknight, and the king of the Zaurask himself, Nossirom. Your character also finds his parents tomb. At the end of the game the player finally arrives at the "Great clock" which is a large artifact that controls the seasons in Aranna. Here the player defeats Shadowjumper and retrieves the Staff of Stars. Gameplay The same as the original, but adds a dinosaur like pet instead of a mule. Return to Arhok Return to Arhok is a bonus pack for the game, it continues the story of The Legends of Aranna. It requires Windows XP and the expansion pack in order to run. The town of Arhok is threatened by the Hassat and in order to restore peace the player must rescue the King of Hassat from the minions of Raks, another species from the Ultraeans. Mods The game engine allows you to create mods or "siegelets" . You can download these off of the internet. They can include stuff like better looking graphics and new character development systems. Media I cant find the original dungeon siege trailer so heres a legends of aranna one. The Kickass and main theme A little bit of gameplay. Dungeon Siege 2 Information Dungeon Siege 2 is a sequel to the original Dungeon Siege, it is a role playing game developed by Gas Powered games and published by Microsoft. It was released on August 16, 2005 Plot The game starts with your character and his friend , Drevin, they are serving as mercenaries of the army of Valdis. A warlord that arms the Sword of Zaramoth and is allied with the Dark Wizards. Your character and his friend Drevin are ordered to capture a temple held by dryads. After you capture the temple, Valdis attacks the mercenaries. Drevin dies but your character is only knocked unconscious. Your character awakens into the custody of Dryads. In order to gain your freedom you must aid the Dryads in getting rid of Valdis. After your character awakens you learn that your infected with the plague, a dark wizard made disease that drives its victims to insanity. Your character is later cured by water in an elven shrine and journeys back to his hometown. On your way home, your character rescues an old man from dryads infected with the plague. The old man tells you of an event called the Great Cataclysm, which happens when the Sword of Zaramoth that Valdis wields strikes a magical shield called the Shield of Azunai. The blow shattered the shield, causing a catastrophe that ended the First Age. Valdis hopes to cause another catastrophe by gathering the shards of the Shield so he can strike it again. The old man then explains the mysterious Plague, telling the character that it is caused by crystals created during the Great Cataclysm that give license to the souls of Zaramoth’s army to possess the living. The player then returns home, he gathers the pieces of the shield so he can put it together and use it against Valdis. Once the character gathers all of the pieces he takes them to the Agallan giants so that they can reforge the shield. As they are reforging it they add a medallion into the center of the shield for added durability. The Medallion was the one that Drevin gave to the player at his death. With the shield reforged, the player travels to Valdis' stronghold named Zamaroths Horns. The shield protects him from dark wizards but it doesn't help him against Valdis. The old man then appears and takes the shield from the player. The old men hands the shield over to Valdis and reveals that he is a Dark Wizard. Valdis tries using the sword to strike the shield but instead of it causing another catastrophe the sword shatters. You then proceed to battle with Valdis and end up defeating him. Gameplay The gameplay is a little different in Dungeon Siege 2 then the original. The criticized attack system where it was all automated is gone, 1 click equals 1 slash in this one, but you can hold the mouse button down for constant slashes. The fighting is also a bit more strategic then its predecessor. In this game each specialty ( class) has its own set of skills, unlike the original. The list of specialty's are Melee, Ranged, Nature Magic, Combat Magic and the Broken World expansion pack adds the Fist of Stone and Blood Assassin. This game also includes "powers" which are special ability's that can include stuff like invincibility for the entire party and other stuff. You can also recruit NPCs in your party, the amount depends on the difficulty. Multiplayer Dungeon Siege II supports co op multiplayer over LAN , the internet, or the gamespy network. 8 players can play at once and 4 can be player controlled. But you can change this by enabling it in the .ini file. Expansion The broken world expansion was released in september of 2006. It added a new campaign, Dwarves as a playable race, 2 new races, Two new pets, enchantments using recipes, and a crossover type system to trade items with the Playstation dungeon siege game. Broken World expansion story In the expansion, the player is looking for the Dark Wizard that helped Valdis in the regular Dungeon Siege 2. The game is set in Aranna again and the world has changed since Valdis has been slain. The game starts off at a Dryad outpost where a group of dark mages attack a local population. Strange creatures are also appearing in the forests, called the " Bound creatures ". The player is asked by a man to locate his brother, Kanred , who is a rogue mage. The player finds Kanred but is forced to kill him. A Dryad patrol comes and takes his magical residue. The player continues pursuing the Dark Wizard. The player, using Kanreds staff tracks down the location of the Dark Wizard, who is in the Kalvaran Waste. You find out that the Dark Wizard is the Overmage of the Cinbri and is trying to return his people back to Aranna. your character also finds out that the Overmage has destroyed your hometown. You then try to go back to your town, Aman'Lu. The commander of the Dryad outpost, Warden Celia has sealed off the entrance to Aman'Lu. While looking for Celia you find a rogue mage and defeat him , the rogue mage was Celeb'hel, the elder of Aman'lu. Celia then allows the player into the village. In Aman'lu the player finds out that the village is a shadow of its former self. The survivors have walled themselves in to protect themselves from the Bound creatures. It is revealed that the Bound Creatures are from a race called the Familiar Surgeons, a race that the elves previously had fought with. After entering the forests of Aman'lu you and your party members kill two Familars. While inside one of the strongholds you learn that the Overmage is responsible for the familiars and that the Dryads are helping the familars by collecting magical energy from the rogue mages. After returning to the village the player confronts the Dryad leader, Solanum , you find out that hes actually the overmage in disguise. The overmage escapes into a portal that other dryads enters but summons a minion first, you slay the minion and enter through the portal and you are transported to Glorydeep Enclave. The dwarves in Glorydeep Enclave are suprised to see someone from the outside, it turns out that the overmage enslaved everyone there for over one hundred years, and is trying to restore the buried Cinbri City. After freeing the dwarves they help the player into the city. In the city you meet the Overmage and a group of Dryads. The overmage tells the character that he is going to transform into Zamaroth reborn in order to achieve his goals. After you weaken the overmage he transforms into Zamaroth reborn. Zamaroth reborn is powerful but you and your companions can overpower and defeat him. The last surviving dryad then recaps what happened and the story ends. Story Dungeon Siege: Throne of Agony picks up where its predecessor for the PC left off: after the second cataclysm altered the world of Aranna. A new threat appears out of nowhere, and the player has to chose one of three characters to oppose it. Wild monsters attack elves and humans, with the one behind this menace being known as the Black Druid. The player has to face many different creatures before the Black Druid is located and killed. It turns out that the true enemy are Vagar, a race of corrupted beings of whom Black Druid was a member. They serve their mistress, Malith, once a leader of Agallan giants, now a fallen creature who takes its powers from Throne of Agony. The hero has to defeat Vagar, find the Agallan giants, and ultimately defeat Malith. Finally, the player has to decide what to do with the Throne of Agony, a sentient throne of darkness, as it could be either used, or destroyed. Characters Allister Battle Mage, uses spells and is handy with staffs. Advances to Vile Wizard or White Wizard at Level 30. If you choose Vile Wizard then at Lv.60 you can become either a Lich or a Death Knight. If you choose White Wizard then at Lv.60 you can become either an Archmage or an Arcane Champion. Mogrim Warlord, effective in melee attacks but poor in magic skills. Becomes a Runemaster or Berserker in Level 30. If you choose Runemaster then at Lv.60 you can become either a Titan or a Rune Lord. If you choose Berserker then at Lv.60 you can become either a Battle Rager or a Slayer. Serin Shadowstalker, uses daggers and is good with bows and is quite fast. In Level 30, she becomes a Ranger or Blademaster. If you choose Ranger then at Lv.60 you can become either a Sniper or a Huntress. If you choose Blademaster then at Lv.60 you can become either a Ninja or a Blood Assassin. These characters can be customized the way they look, and advancing to the next class only gives the character new abilities. The characters play a different part in the story but the quests are still the same. Gameplay Instead of using the mouse like in the original Dungeon Siege games, the player directly controls the character with the analog stick. Players can also choose a partner, making a party of a maximum of two characters, but the partner can be changed (ranged, magic, melee). A friend can join in ad-hoc play between two PlayStation Portable consoles, forming a party of up to four characters (two characters and two followers). Enemies are much more scattered throughout the map rather than having several enemies in one screen at the same time like in Dungeon Siege II. ITS OUT NOW Shitty movie by Uwe Boll that I'm just going to copy and paste from wikipedia In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale is a 2008 fantasy action film inspired by the Dungeon Siege video game series, which was directed by Uwe Boll. It was produced by Brightlight Pictures and distributed by Freestyle Releasing and Vivendi Entertainment in the United States and Canada. 20th Century Fox took distribution overseas. Oh guys and guess what, hes making a fucking sequel.
donjon seige da bomb. I never played the sequel or the expansions, but stock DS had the most amazing multiplayer ever. I remember making custom maps so I can make my own ultra badass special equipment to use online and ruin it for everybody.

I remember my cousin always playing online.
Utraean peninsula is okay, but it ends really really abruptly and the ending is just pathetic really. [sp]the townstones were keeping the all powerful demons underground from escaping, you gathered them like the dick you are and now the demons are free, so you go in and kill the demons and then you win.[/sp]
I love this game. I just started playing this again a few times ago. New goal: Grand High Siege Master.
The game has one slightly problem though. 1 nature mage with a group of archers (machine gun crossbowers) kinda mows down trough everything that moves.
A really fun game to play on Lan with a friend. A shame that it's pretty much only killing. Requires no skill or whatsoever, just kill everything that moves.
I love the chicken minigun.
Playing through Hero difficulty in Dungeon Siege 2 right now. Spamming armour like a bitch.
My experience of DS multiplayer was accidentally picking up massive amounts of random, amazing equipment from seemingly nowhere. I enjoyed it a lot, oddly enough.
Too bad the master server is down.
This game was my childhood. Started playing again recently and raged at the fact you need to have your entire party selected to attack anything.
Too bad the master server is down.
Yea that sucks, I wonder if DS 3 will have multiplayer.
This was one of the first actual games I owned. I played the demo over and over again, until finally my dad bought me the game with the Legends of Aranna thing. It was awesome.
Okay, I've updated the thread with info about DungeoN Siege 2, Thrones of Agony, 3, and the shitty Uwe Boll movie. [editline]4th January 2011[/editline] Oh yea, I basically copy pasted the stuff for Dungeon Siege 3 , thrones of agony, and The movie ( cause its shit ) from wikipedia. Thrones of Agony cause I never played it and I really have to get started on my homework.
I remember the multiplayer on DS1, good time.
This was pretty much all i played when i was younger.
I remember playing this game. Multiplayer was awesome, especially with a party of friends.
Oh this game, Legends of Aranna. Still have it.
I played the fucked out of DS. Never played DS2 but Throne of Agony was pretty good.
I never tried Thrones of Agony, I played DS2 for a little bit, but didn't enjoy it as much as the original.
Alright guys, the release date is said to be May 27th in Europe, and May 29th in North America. The combat is supposedly similar to the Fable series which is kind of a disappointment to me, but oh well.
The Dryads are dicks, man.
everytime a thread about this comes out, I find my disc and reinstall.
I used to play this all the time with my dad, it was awesome. I can't wait for Dungeon Siege III.
everytime a thread about this comes out, I find my disc and reinstall.
I'd do that also, if I still had mine :smith: .
I am cautiously optimistic about Dungeon Siege III but I am currently playing DSII with graphics mods/widescreen screens etc at 1920x1080 and it's not the most gorgeous thing out there, it is a FUN and solid game. For me, it's like Diablo II with a lot more strategy involved. You can't just rush into a mob and expect to live. You have to use gear, skills and strategy or you die.. QUICK. I'd be happy to help anyone if they want to get DSII set up. The cutscenes are cheesy but everything else is GREAT! I will attach a few tweak screenshots tonight. As far as DSIII goes, I am hoping it is not consolized like 95% of the stuff being released... :(
I have beat Dungeon Siege 7 times. And yet I still can't figure out why they didn't just take a boat from the farmlands over to the castle. So much travel time gone.
Yea, Dungeon Siege III looks.. different, I guess.
Dungeon Siege 1 was awesome to play through with a friend. I'd suggest it to many as a LAN game
