So let me get this straight, Valve is looking into the area of educational games? The only thing I picture is something like Typer Shark, that game was my childhood.

10:05 StephenTotilo: He's queuing up a trailer to give people a sense of the game Suddenly, Episode 3 trailer.
The wait for Ep3 is teaching gamers values such as patience and anger management.
he's talking about portal 2 and how that's a comercially successful "educational" game.
Apparently 3 million copies of portal 2 sold (Unknown if he's talking about a specific console or all of them) http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/22/newell-portal-2-has-sold-3-million-copies-since-launch/

Holy shit that's a huge pic on the site.

:geno:
10:46 StephenTotilo: Question: WHen does Half Life Episode 3 comes out? 10:46 StephenTotilo: Gabe: if you know enough to ask the question, you know enough what the answer is
Fuck.
-see above-
It's over. No announcement. Damn.
Well that sucked.
It's over. No announcement. Damn.
he was talking about education why would there be a game announcement
he was talking about education why would there be a game announcement
I pretty much go wild at anything with Gabe Newell for a Half Life sequel and lose all common sense.
Well that sucked.
I dunno. As a researcher in exactly this field, it was interesting to see Gabe mention certain things. It appears that he has done his homework. The point he made about Bond Traders as virtual workers is a really strong point, as well as gaming as a strong force for socialization and self-identification. I'm excited to see how Valve approaches educational aspects of games.
If anyone is still interested in this, they uploaded the whole entire thing on vimeo
