It is a first person shooter video game and the sequel to Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas. It was announced by Ubisoft on November 20, 2007. The game was released for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on March 18, 2008 in North America and March 20, 2008 in Europe, except in Germany, where the game was delayed. The Microsoft Windows version, however, was delayed until April 15, 2008. It was released in Japan on April 24, 2008 for the Xbox 360 and on May 29, 2008 for the PlayStation 3.A world-exclusive first-look of the game appeared in the January 2008 edition of the Official Xbox Magazine. It was announced that Logan Keller, the lead character from the previous game, had been removed in favor of having the player create his or her own character to play through the campaign. The player assumes the role of Bishop, a member of the Rainbow squad with a great deal more experience who has a deeper involvement in the story. The game, billed as "part sequel, part prequel", has events that run both before and concurrently to the story of Logan Keller and continue after where the first game concluded. In addition to the ability to customize a character in multiplayer, the player can now customize Bishop, Vegas 2'sprotagonist. In single-player, the developers claim to have vastly improved teammate AI, so that now teammates cover each other as they advance. There are also several new commands, for example, the ability of a teammate to throw a grenade at a specific point. It is also possible to give commands to one's AI teammates using the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 headset, or a PC microphone.
Gameplay Single Player
Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 includes a single player campaign/storyline mode as well as a variation of the Terrorist Hunt mode included in previous games, which involves repeated encounters with enemy AI terrorists in a non-linear map.Terrorist Hunt mode may be played in "Lone Wolf" (alone) or with a pair of computer controlled allies that may be issued environment-based contextual commands. Both the campaign and Terrorist Hunt game modes support cooperative multiplayer which you can have up to three friends playing. Present in all game modes is a multi-dimensional advancement system.
Multiplayer
The multiplayer in Vegas 2 has been expanded to include more than 10 new close-quarters maps, two new adversarial modes, a newer and different rewards system, and according to Ubisoft, improved online matchmaking. Another feature for multiplayer is that using an Xbox Live Vision camera or a PlayStation Eye, the player could take a picture of his/her face and make him/herself the playable character. A camera can also be used in the PC version as well to create a playable character. Ubisoft released downloadable content for Vegas 2, a Fan pack that includes three maps from the Rainbow Six Vegas and new XP ranks.
Co-op/XP Advancement/Third Person View
Previous Rainbow Six games up to Lockdown supported eight human players on the PC in co-op mode, while Vegas reduced co-op to four. Although Terrorist Hunt mode retains the four human player limit (online only), the story mode in Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 has reduced co-op from four players to two players, with the second player assuming the position of Knight, Bishop's teammate.

The experience point (XP) system is different from that in Rainbow Six: Vegas in that every kill achieved awards the player XP. XP gains result in promotions which reward the player with new equipment, such as body armor. Players also receive bonuses from the ACES combat system, a separate but related advancement system from the XP system. ACES advancement is based on the methods used to kill opponents, and weaponry unlocked differs depending on which tactics are used.[SUP][14][/SUP] Experience can be gained by the player in any game mode, single player or multiplayer, and advancement is shared amongst all modes. Equipment unlocked in one mode is usable in all other modes

The game goes into third person mode if the player takes cover behind a wall or piece of the environment. While in third person mode the player can shoot enemies but not look directly into their weapons aiming sights. (with the exception of scoped weapons)
Plot You play as a customizable character named Bishop. Spoilers break the tags so just read the plot at wikipedia if you want. i liked it [editline]6th July 2011[/editline] Conviction shouldn't have been called a Splinter Cell game though
I loved this game. I had it on 360 and I played it all the time
I bought this a few days ago but ive never had the chance to play it yet. Anything i should know about it when i start off?
I bought this a few days ago but ive never had the chance to play it yet. Anything i should know about it when i start off?
Don't get very close to any terrorist, a point blank shot is an insta kill no matter what weapon.
I upgraded from XP to Win7 and the game was thus broken. I really can't be asked to grind xp again, is there some sort of *ahem* [sp]trainer[/sp] that you can use?
Don't get very close to any terrorist, a point blank shot is an insta kill.
So a shotgun rush is out of the question then?
So a shotgun rush is out of the question then?
If you're fast enough and you take down your enemies rapidly, then you can shotgun rush. But you have to make sure you don't get too close to an enemy while focusing on another.
You can actually just run and gun this game if you have your AI squad backing you up and do it in a somewhat planned way. It's not really that tactical or realistic.
Aww yeah. I love this game.
I have this game on both PC and for 360. Although playing with a mouse is nice, it's so damn blatant that the game was made for consoles (to the point that the first Option selection is 360 controller settings). I've played the Campaign more times than I can count, and while the gameplay is alright, Vegas 2's 'story' is so terrible that if I was Tom Clancy, i'd have a heart attack. [sp]Why the fuck would a highly-trained, adult operative throw a temper tantrum about being 'let down' in a trap that SHOULD of killed him but he was saved in the end? Worse yet, said tantrum involved selling national and security secrets along with chemical weapons, as well as attempting to kill his former mentor because he wasn't promoted from the mission involving said trap, despite him getting a negotiator killed, nearly blowing the whole operation to begin with. It's just.. What in the fuck.[/sp]
Horrendous consolized garbage. Ravenshield and SWAT 4 are superior in every single aspect.
I actually really enjoyed this game on the 360, hoping someday I can get it on Steam.
Horrendous consolized garbage. Ravenshield and SWAT 4 are superior in every single aspect.
I have threads on those two, go post in those two if you think those are better.
I have some gameplay to add
It was really fun to play with a friend, we'd go on pvp servers and play with similar-looking armor and equipment and had awesome teamwork and stuff. Times were good.
I'm going to record some gameplay of this and upload it.
the first one sucks compared to the second
[hd]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gDi_Ho6HP24[/hd] Good times. I'm always playing this with my cousins on LANs.
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is a realistic simulation of blind-firing an LMG as your mouth flaps wildly.
Who wants to play co-op with me over Hamachi? I've never played co-op on the PC before.
Best cover system ever.
I fucking love this game so much, I've been playing since it came out and I still play some splitscreen terrorist hunt every now and then with my brother.
[sp]Why the fuck would a highly-trained, adult operative throw a temper tantrum about being 'let down' in a trap that SHOULD of killed him but he was saved in the end? My sister keeps killing all the terrorists whenever we play. But then again I'm always behind a riot shield.

Clearly you have never talked to any members of the military, they can be the biggest stuck up bitchy assholes on the planet regardless of the training they have had.
The in-series background for [the fictional] Rainbow Six is that they're the most elite commandos and soldiers accumulated from over the globe for one big, badass anti-terrorism unit. Consider the attitudes and such of the rest of the cast, and then compare them to [sp]Gabriel. Gabriel is an immature idiot who goes against orders because of impatience and avoids punishment for it in the most elite tactical unit on Earth. And he goes berserk like a ten-year-old not getting a Happy Meal because Bishop stood up for him. Tom Clancy would weep. Whether the military are stuck-up assholes or not, Gabriel is so much of a bitch that I not only shoot him in the nuts every damn time at the end, but now the game just isn't as good before I found out why he did it. Everything that happened, with a Rainbow Six squad and hundreds of innocent civilians dead along with biochemical weapons fear and severe damage to Las Vegas, because of a TEMPER TANTRUM.[/sp]
I loved the first one, I didn't really play too much of the second. Did the Casino map from RSV1 ever make it to RSV2?
I loved the first one, I didn't really play too much of the second. Did the Casino map from RSV1 ever make it to RSV2?
Calypso Casino? Nope, it was replaced by Three Kingdoms.
I really enjoyed this game. I love the customization for your character, wish more games had it.
Didn't understand the Katty Perry joke, but this game stole around 100hours of my life. Also I was awarded by a Ubi mod to be the 1st guy EVAR to finish the hardest calypso Terror-hunt.
Story might suck, but the gameplay itself is great, amazing sound-design and really good customization (but it needs moar)
