Hey guys, with TF2 gone F2P and F2P games like LoL becoming more and more present in todays gaming scene, I 'd like to know what you guys think of the practice. When is it done right, when is it done wrong? Is the F2P model a spawn of the devil or the greatest thing that ever hit gaming? There are so many things right with F2P (you can play for free, you can try the game and get invested in the game before starting to shell out that hard-earned cash) and so many things wrong (pay to win games, evil store practices), so what's your opinion on the subject, would you like to see more of your favourite game use this model or do you wish games would go back to the good old, no fuss, pay to play model? Also, have you ever stopped playing a game because of it's F2P store, and have you ever taken up a game (and spend money on) a game that you probably wouldn't have if it wasn't F2P? Edit: What's that "act" doing in my thread title?
As long as it's fun and it doesn't shove the cash shop in my face every 10 minutes, im ok with it.
I agree with hehe, LoL is a fun game especially since its even if you don't shell out tons of money on the cash shop. Good quality stuff.
Unless you can't win until you buy over powered shit, I'm fine. Alot of the new players suck though,
League of Legends is actually the perfect example. You can unlock champions with Riot points; which means nothing since they are all arguably very different from each other and unlocking them all quickly does nothing for you, really. Runes (which affect gameplay) can ONLY be bought with the earned currency. Skins and stuff like name changes are useless and can be bought only for real money; and tons of people have them anyway. I wish other cash shop models could work like this.
