Hello fellow facepuncher, for the past while I've been working on something to provide an alternative to fpsb/gamebanana.
Why? Because I find gb very hard to navigate, it's not easy to find "tf2 maps" or "css skins" for example. There's quite a lot of mod sites out there, but I believe I have a pretty robust solution. It's no where near release yet, I'm hoping to gain some feedback via this thread.
Some points:
+ Steam powered login (OpenID), no registration
+ Easy to upload to the site, including anonymous uploading for items you haven't created
+ Tag-based browsing, hopefully easier to navigate
There's always going to be a key issue with a site like this; without enough mods it's useless, however for mods to appear you need users to push them too. The plan is to have a "ModBot" user anyone can upload under, and it will also automatically add other popular mods. Anything uploaded by ModBot can also be requested to be removed or claimed.
Current design & layout:

Any feedback greatly appreciated!
You should have some quality control there, so that people wouldn't upload their shit fullbright flatgrass remakes.
I like what you've done with the layout, its simple and its not the clusterfuck that is over on GB.
Tried some improvements.

Some things you should consider:
Rounded corners, but very sparingly and not too bubbly.
Aesthetic depth, by making things in the background slightly desaturated, blurry or transparent and giving things in the front drop shadows or highlights.
Gradients. They're nice, but don't make them an obvious feature. Keep them small or in the back.

I don't think you understand what this is.

The front page displays the most downloaded of the week, which will hopefully filter out the crap from displaying, and you'll be able to report items for being low quality, and they'll be checked.

Thanks, hopefully the tag-based browsing will make easy navigation, the tags are highlighted in green when 'active'.

This is for maps, skins, hats, models, etc. Not full game mods.
