• Dissapearing folder in TF2 GCF
    8 replies, posted
So i've stumbled upon this problem where i need to extract a few weapon sounds from the tf2 gcf, but for some reason the folder that holds them have simply disappeared and i cannot extract any sounds from it. I've tried reinstalling the game and verifying the game files but everything seems okay. the sounds also work ingame so i really don't understand what the hell is going on. If anyone knows, please respond quickly. (User was banned for this post ("This isn't a support forum. It's in team fortress 2 materials.gcf
Okay, found it. But why would they ever think of putting the sound folder in the materials gcf? [editline]24th July 2011[/editline] Also, thanks alot, you saved my day.

If you look carefully you can notice theres no models folder, either.
That's weird, since the guy who made GCFscape updated his program so that it could open GCF's over 4 gigs.
FAT32 can't handle files over 4gb. The game didn't run for those with FAT32 HDDs, even I had to upgrade my external HDD to NTFS until Valve fixed it.
With the way TF2 is heading, I don't think FAT32 systems will be useable for long. Unless Valve splits the GCFs again.
Okay then, now i understand.
