This has probably already been posted on FP before, but what Quest does is allow you to create your own text adventures with relative ease. I was wondering if any other facepunchers used it at all? As far as I know, there are two versions of quest that are 'valid'. There's the WIP Quest 5: http://quest5.net/wiki/Main_Page And there's Quest 4, which isn't open source: http://www.textadventures.co.uk/quest/ So, FP, anybody use Quest?
I might try this for shits and giggles, would be cool to make something hellmooish
Aw, hell I was gonna upload screenshots from a game I began yesterday but it got corrupted. Fuck. [editline]24th July 2011[/editline] Well, here was a possible dialog: look at Tabitha Tabitha is around 5'6 and wears round-framed glasses. She looks fairly robust for a woman of her age. She wears a threadbare old cardigan with a faded blue color. Her eyes are beady and she looks overly observant. speak tabitha "Hello." "I'm trying to find out what the special meat is by tasting it multiple times, go away." "Shit, sorry" She's very rude. mate with Tabitha "Why would you even want to do that? That's gross. Unless you're in to that sorta thing."
Holy shit this is gonna be awesome. I will begin construction immediately. [editline]24th July 2011[/editline] I'm putting the whole game in comic sans to irritate people. [editline]24th July 2011[/editline] It's purely planning and development at this stage. I'm just trying to get using to the editor interface and whatnot.
I was working on a game in Inform 7 but this seems to be better. Will try it out.
Odd, it says that it's limited to 15 rooms and 50 objects but I made 20 random rooms and then saved it successfully. This tutorial PDF is a liar.
Ideas for a semi-comedic text adventure GO
Ideas for a semi-comedic text adventure GO
Lots of drugs, but coke and such is safe while marijuana kills you or gives you lung cancer.
Why can't I unlock an exit? I searched the wiki for info, and there is nothing, or it is extremely poorly written, or is outdated by several versions.
I am going to create Amnesia: The Textual Descent. :v: [editline]24th July 2011[/editline] The first room, I think it's a good description.
*Rose petals.
Yeah, I couldn't find a tutorial on how to make keys to unlock doors.

Ooglybooglyboo. Obvious exists are East, North and Dennis"
Gah, I set an object so it could be picked up but for some reason the game won't let you. It still says you do but it never goes into the inventory.
Is there a way to edit the ugly "UI"
Also, I am basing my TA on let's plays, too scared to go back and play it.
This is hard to get the hang of :smith:
How do I use containers? I put a card inside a wallet and 'list' is broken.
Cant tell if you guys are really good at writing a book, or making a game.
I think I might take a shot at this. Would y'all prefer a zombie apocalypse, STALKER scenario, or some generic high-school animu bullshit?

Okay, quest to hunt down animu faggot it is. Anyways, I'm reading the tutorial right now, and it says there's only like 15 rooms or some bullshit in the 'free' version. Is this true? [I don't see a 'buy now nigga' anywhere.]
Apparently it doesn't enforce it. [editline]29th July 2011[/editline] Yeah, you can have more than 15

This thing's actually pretty fun. Although I can't help but wall-of-text everything that you can do. [>look knife -- Your trusty knife that you've had since you were about sixteen. It's handle is made of sleek, black rubber with indents for your fingers to rest; it seems to fit perfectly into your hand. It's blade is about seven inches long, straight on one side and a slight curve near the top on the other that ends in a long, sharp hook. There is an intricate carving on the stainless steel blade of your name in big, blocky letters.] Thanks for showing me this, it encourages me to write more often.
I think Inform 7 is much better, slightly more complicated to learn but a lot more powerful.

Or something similar.
I wouldn't use that 'wise' tone for actions.
