• Binary counters for dummies! [Downloadable save]

Hi Facepunch, I recently made a 4-bit binary counter/decoder complete with a 7-segment display and a tour of how it works! This is intended to be an educational map so people who don't know much about redstone can get started. Alright redstone noobies, let's get started! A 4-bit binary counter is a machine that counts down from 15 to 0. It consists of four T-latches (aka T-flip flops), and a simple clock. What's a T-latch? What's a clock? (Seriously, if you think it's a time device, click this.) I would provide more information about binary counters and whatnot in this post, but that takes the fun out of an interactive map, doesn't it? BEFORE YOU DOWNLOAD: Make sure you have the Wireless Redstone mod v14 installed or the save will not work! Download the save here. Feedback will be greatly appreciated! Well you're not going to get much attention by deleting the content. I'd like to read what you posted.
Yeah I realized that... At the time I just thought that people weren't interested... I'll re-type it now.
Could a mod just lock or delete this thread? I edited away the OP because this thread wasn't getting any attention.
I was interested, that makes two users that wanted to view your content but you removed it.
Yeah I realized that... At the time I just thought that people weren't interested... I'll re-type it now.
1 hour of little attention isn't any reason to kill the thread.
There... The OP is back now. Sorry bout that. [editline]18th July 2011[/editline] Looking back on this a second time makes me realize I was really stupid to remove the OP for inactivity...
Awesome but is it possible to do this without wireless redstone?
Awesome but is it possible to do this without wireless redstone?
Yes it's possible, it just requires a lot more work. (Running wires from one end of the thing to the other, etc.) [editline]19th July 2011[/editline] This is slightly off topic, but if you do anything with redstone, you should have the wireless redstone mod. it makes things sooo much easier to wire.
But I like to be able to redo it on a server without the mod.
Ah. Well, in that case, I recommend taking a close look at the transmitters/receivers in the map. Each one has the channel it sends/receives on the side of the units. In order to save you some time, each T-latch sends a signal to the binary number display. the binary number display then sends signals to the AND-function gates, then the AND gates send signals to the buffers for the 7-seg display. Just for the record, I tried making it without wireless redstone, but gave up because of inadequate space for wires in the area I cleared out.
