Redstone Questions Thread - "I made sliding door and now I have no room for my house"

I was going to ask a redstone question in the Minecraft Chat Thread, but it dawned on me that it's probably a pretty common enough occurrence in this forum to have a special thread, made with tender love and care.
Now we can all voice our dismay and frustration here, and hopefully get some answers from our electrician specialists and ham radio-building members.

Q: So I made this awesome lightswitch for my love pony lodge, and now it looks like Fort Knox. It's deterring all of my love pony patrons. Help?
Q: I tried making a locking mechanism for my dungeon, but I messed up the redstone somewhere and now all of my sheep are escaping. Please help?
Q: So I made a Battle Zoid gate to invert my Xena Warrior Princess gate and now my house is upside down and on fire. Suggestions?

Wait so you're asking for help for some of this stuff? If that's a yes, I'd be glad to demonstrate a video of a door with a locking mechanism.
Actually, I just wanna know how to make redstone activate in reverse when a lever is switched off.

ON

OFF

Hold on, let me see if I can do that. I'm not the best with Redstone, but hopefully I can help you with what you need. I'll edit this post once I complete it.

How can I make a clock that can be turned on and off with a lever?
1. just turn the lever around
2. inverter behind the lever?
No no no. You don't understand. Here...
More Detailed Illustration:
P = Piston
ON
--P--P--P-->
OFF
<--P--P--P--
See the difference? When turned off, the pistons will be deactivated in the reverse order that they were activated in.

Oh so you mean that if turning the lever on, piston 1 actives, then piston 2, and so forth, but when deactivating, piston 2 deactivates first then piston 1?
Someone posted a really good video for that, lemme find it.

Yes that, thank you.

Actually, probably not. Well technically, 8 pistons, but only 2 steps. It's a two-step door mechanism that would work much more efficiently if I could figure out how to do this. It only works because of the unusual circumstance of my prototype, and I'll go through hell trying to replicate it.

Just extend it for your needs.

As in, add one more block and repeater on each side.
How can I make a clock that can be turned on and off with a lever?
If the clock can start itself, then just connect a lever between 2 of the torches/repeaters and it should work.

Use minecarts, detector rails, and powered rails going up a slope. Make it a "u" shape, with the detector in the middle. If the power rails are powered, the minecart will move back and forth, activating the detector rail. If the power rails are not powered, the minecart will stop on them.

I just tried this out in game, you need a normal rail between the power rail and the detector rail or the detector rail will power the power rail continuously.
Ok, so, I have this redstone nonsense going on, and everything should be working right, but when I step on the pressure plate nothing happens. I've finally found out what I did wrong; nothing. Look at this:
Ok, what the fuck. And just FYI, that torch is only there to showcase the problem. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Restart minecraft.
Also I've got a band of pistons like this:
I've been having a very hard time getting them to go in sync, anyone got any help for me?
Restart minecraft.
Yeah, it's still fucking with me. Anyone else?

You can do this in a much simpler way by just ANDing your clock output with the lever output.
Anyone mind shedding some light on this situation?

I can't seem to get this to work. Incase you can't tell, I'm trying to do the infinite block glitch with pistons.

It's a work in progress.

How far is that current going? Remember that power is only carried a certain amount of blocks (16?), you need repeaters if you want it to go further than that.

Wouldn't that just be a metric dick-ton of redstone sequencers, one running in ascending, and another set in descending order, then activating a certain set with the example of the level on/ off thing above?

MS Paint to the rescue! An example using a simple repeater clock:

I posted a video a couple of posts above, it's actually really compact.
I posted a video a couple of posts above, it's actually really compact.
Yeah, that's exactly what I needed. I just wish I'd thought of it myself. :eng101:
There is a mod for wireless redstone blocks, tried to find it but couldn't unfortunately.

This is a much more reliable system. Repeater clocks shut-down when the chunk isn't loaded, and they need to be restarted. This system works constantly.

Well, you see the torch right above it? That's one block away. And as far as I know redstone current usually travels a one block distance.
