Adam Oxford at 05:26pm August 26 2011 Comments 0 Very very shiny. I’ll admit, I was a little skeptical about Razer’s viral marketing site, www.pcgamingisnotdead.com, but it turns out to have been worth hanging around for on this Friday afternoon before the bank holiday. The big announcement is the Razer Blade, which is being billed as the “world’s first gaming laptop”. I imagine Alienware, ASUS, MSI, and Dell might have something to day about that, but there you go. The Blade, though, does look very nice. It has a 17inch screen, but is just two and a quarter centimetres deep, which earns it the right to the name at least. That makes it thinner than an equivalent MacBook Pro, although it’s fractionally heavier at 3.2kg. Inside, there’s a 2.8GHz Core i7 processor with 8GB RAM and a 320GB hard drive. The graphics card is a bit disappointing – the NVIDIA GeForce GT555M it sports is OK, but may struggle to doi justice at the 1920×1080 resolution of the screen.

The really interesting bit, though, is that it lifts the ‘Switchblade user interface’ lock and stock, so the keypad on the right hand side is replaced with a multitouch LCD panel and 10 ‘adaptive’. Curiously, this makes Razer the only other producer of PCs other than Dell based outside of Asia now that HP is leaving the market. The Blade will cost $2799.99 and go on sale late autumn by the looks of it. You can find out more at the Blade’s official site.
Full article LOL? They have us hyped for 3 days to show us a grossly overpriced piece of shit laptop? $2799 for this thing Inside, there’s a 2.8GHz Core i7 processor with 8GB RAM and a 320GB hard drive. 2800, and all it has is a GT555M? What the Christ
$2799.99
No thanks.
Scam.
$2799 for this thing
Holy shit.
Money well spent! [editline]26th August 2011[/editline] Ordering now for portable 1337ing!! [editline]26th August 2011[/editline] This is the dumbest thing I've ever seen.
ahuehuehhuehhueh a normal ahahahahahaha was not enough. that is literally THE most retardedly overpriced thing I've ever seen, hell, this makes "geared for gaming" Macs look CHEAP.
let's spend insane amounts of money on a socially awkward tool!
Looks like the case is cheap plastic
I might get it if it ever lowers in price. Looks cool.
wow! just enough to run WoW on high! This is what I've been waiting to spend 3 grand on!
I'm on a $1,000 laptop for school with an i7 and gtx 485m. I can play Crysis 2 at 60 fps... or pay $2799 and barely get 20. SOLD!
Pff, amateurs.
go back to making mice razer
Seems like PC gaming really IS dead if Razer expects this thing to sell.
It's funny when AlienWare is more of a value.
wow! just enough to run WoW on high! This is what I've been waiting to spend 3 grand on!
Well, it'd rape WoW sideways, upside down, inside and out. This thing is still 1500 bucks over price. [editline]26th August 2011[/editline]
It's funny when AlienWare is more of a value.
Their laptops aren't even over priced compared to everyone else. Razer isn't going to make anything off of this.
It's funny when AlienWare is more of a value.
Well, Alienware makes amazing laptops. (but shit desktops)
Holy shit.
Worst thing is, people are going to buy it anyway.
Knowing razer it'll probably break in half six months after you buy it.
So they're taking a leaf from Apple's book by making it look pretty, be small and have reasonable hardware but cost at least 4 times as much as it should?
stop being apple
lol ok
Wow. In the other thread I said it couldn't possibly be the Blade because no PC gamer wants that shit. Why have you done this to me, Razer. [editline]27th August 2011[/editline] The specs are fucking awesome though, especially for it's size and sexiness.
As I said before, take the context keys and the touchpad, sell separately, make money.
Fuck that price. They should have taken all the extranious 'revolutionary' touch pad shit off.
What the fuck is wrong with tags. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=H2Nbn4bjf6s
I'm really disappointed they didn't stick with the Switchblade (assuming it won't be released). I was looking forwards to an ultra-portable laptop with decent/netbook specs
the keyboard is pretty cool and they have a separate usb keyboard up on their site, but why make the hotkeys on the right side which virtually nobody uses???

[editline]27th August 2011[/editline] The Alienware just looks silly in comparison.
