Heres the last OP:
Since we now know its most likely coming out soon, we need a megathread, I will try to make a Proper OP tomorrow when some content is released. Development on Duke Nukem Forever (DNF) was first publicly announced in April 1997, and promotional information for the game was released in one form or another in each of 1997, 1998, 2001, 2007, and 2008. After repeatedly announcing and deferring release dates for the game, 3D Realms announced publicly in 2001 that DNF would be released simply "when it's done". Take-Two Interactive filed a lawsuit in 2009 against 3D Realms over their failure to finish development of the game. On September 3, 2010 Duke Nukem Forever was officially reported by Take-Two to be in development at Gearbox Software. A 2011 release was confirmed for either PC, Playstation 3 and XBox 360 Better Footage: http://youtube.com/watch?v=0-97N6jNKb4 Duke Nukem Handcam Gameplay Footage: http://www.gametrailers.com/video/pa...e-nukem/704001
Go kick some ass.
expecting a flamewar as soon as willy gets here [editline]10th June 2011[/editline] where is the beer in the demo btw
Its somewhere close to the house if I recall correctly. The first one in the second level, the one where you find the shotgun.

Might buy it if it drops below a tenner in a sale, but with the criticism it's getting (from even the freaking guardian)? No fuckin' way, Dukie.
Oh gee, boobs, in a video game no less! how witty. [/sarcasm]
One of the olsen twins definitely makes a rrerr sound in Lady Killer part II [editline]f[/editline] courtesy of carbon
expecting a flamewar as soon as willy gets here [editline]10th June 2011[/editline] where is the beer in the demo btw
Very funny. So who knows anything about Multiplayer?
Might buy it if it drops below a tenner in a sale, but with the criticism it's getting (from even the freaking guardian)? No fuckin' way, Dukie.
Guardian don't seem to understand the references and brush it off as bad humor.
Garry was right after all... It didn't turn out as good as everybody expected. To say the least.
Garry was right after all... It didn't turn out as good as everybody expected. To say the least.
I think that was pretty obvious after the first 8 years of development.
Oh gee, boobs, in a video game no less! how witty. [/sarcasm]
I'm no veteran of Duke Nukem games, but isn't shit like that pretty much a staple of the Duke franchise? You know, titty humor, cheap one-liners, and Refuge In Audacity? Because if it is I fail to see why everyone's so disappointed...
Guardian don't seem to understand the references and brush it off as bad humor.
The only "reference" I have heard is the one in the demo about Half-Life: "A crowbar would come in handy right about now." Firstly, its not really funny. Secondly, its not a very good reference. Just because its a crowbar doesn't mean that its a reference to Half-Life.
This didn't turn out anything like most of the fucking planet expected, and now gamestop won't let me cancel my preorder.
Because if it is I fail to see why everyone's so disappointed...
Watch this:
I think that was pretty obvious after the first 8 years of development.
It would be better if it weren't for some stupid mistakes. Firstly, 2 weapons at a time and health regen are stupid. This is not Duke of Duty: Modern Forever. Secondly, they expected that everyone will go "omg lol tits", and not notice the flaws of the game. That is a stupid approach as well. And thirdly, it lacks stuff from DN3D such as secret rooms, for instance. If it weren't for these 3 things the game would have been great.
I don't get the criticism. Aside from the shooting being mediocre, there's a lot of attention to detail.
Watch this:
I'm up to the same point and I've really enjoyed it.
I don't get the criticism. Aside from the shooting being mediocre, there's a lot of attention to detail.
In a few spots here and there. Also, shooting is most of the game, so if its bad, most of the game is going to be bad.
It was in development for 8 years? People keep saying it's been 12, but people also keep forgetting that it's not the same game... How long has Gearbox been working on it?
It was in development for 8 years? People keep saying it's been 12, but people also keep forgetting that it's not the same game... How long has Gearbox been working on it?
For a few months or something. And it was in development for 12 years.
I'm going to spend half of my playtime screwing with objects.
For a few months or something. And it was in development for 12 years.
It was in development for 12 years, but the game was restarted around 4-5 times. Thus making every build of the game (on average) around 2-3 years.
For a few months or something. And it was in development for 12 years.
Someone wants to write a letter. He tries to write it, but can't get the words right. Hands it to someone else, and says "Write this for me." New guy looks at it. He seems to know what to write. "Oh, guess I'm out of pencils..." Sets it down somewhere. 12 years later, some new kids comes up and scribbles all over the paper. Was that letter being written for 12 years?
alrighty, booting up. lets see how this goes :v:
I can't wait to tell everyone how I feel [e] I don't like it spoiler alert [e2] I am a internet hate machine.

When I first heard that they're reviving DN:Forever (again) I instantly thought that the devs just want to get the game out there and over it, because well it's Duke Nukem Forever and it's late 12 fucking years. Even the dumbest individual out there knew that this game is NEVER going to be that good that people would forgive those 12 years. No, not a fat fucking chance. This is a game that can be considered as a burden. No one really wanted to take up the challenge of finishing it, but many people thought and talket about it around the coffee table. "Wouldn't it be cool if someone finished DN: Forever?" "Yeah, but it would never live up the 12 years of wait" And along comes GearBox and puts us all out of our misery and shows what everyone has known since day one. It's a load of fucking horse shit. The game simply can not compensate those 12 years of disappointments with a few pairs of boobs, vibrators and throwable shit. It had potential. In 1999.

In 1999.
said it once and will say it again:
duke nukem 3d was revolutionary
build engine was brand new; had realistic visuals for the time, insanely original FPS gameplay stuff and was, like, the first shooter ever to feauture a badass character nowdays there's nothing revolutionary about dnf. if they made something that truly made the game stand out, like a completely destructible city or something then it would be completely boss as fuck, but alas you are given a linear shitty story, limited weapon weilding, regenerating health and corny one liners from the 90s. that doesn't save a series with an incredibly loyal fanbase to it -- that destroys it. goodbye, duke. it was fun thinking you were kind of a cool guy. too bad you turned out to be a douchebag
Stop begging for sequels and expecting them to be just as good as the classic.
