8BitLord the gigantic begging scammer and valve's greatness - Games

This is sort of a scamming thread, but I asked a few of the moderators around here and said this thread would be okay if it was good. So here it goes: Basically, 8BitLord was going around begging people for games, and eventually he got to me in his friends list. He told me that he would pay me back nearly double that I paid, as it would be his birthday soon and we he would be receiving a $100 gift card. He said he would pre-order Red Orchestra 2 with the $50 and then give me the other half. So I bought him Bad Company 2. Proof I sent the gift: [img]http://i.imgur.com/pwzom.png[/img] Proof that 8BitLord promised to pay me; he even got a friend to testify on his behalf: [img]http://i.imgur.com/jHfDA.png[/img] So fast forward a few days, I had said pretty much [I]nothing[/I] to him since I had bought, and surprise surprise, he's off my friends list. I try to contact a mutual friend (Erp) to get us in a group chat, and as soon as he sees me he backpedals and leaves the conversation. Then I made a post about him scamming me in the gifting thread. 8BitLord got scared and finally added me again, explaining the situation. Logs: [img]http://i.imgur.com/fpov1.png[/img] So he adds me, negotiates with me a bit. Tells me he actually only got a $50 gift card. So he removes me without enough money to pay me back. It's fishy enough already. [img]http://i.imgur.com/VCIHw.png[/img] I ask him to send what is remaining of his Visa gift card to me via a paypal donation link. He says he can't. I take out one of my Visa gift cards and try it. Instantly $100 dollars is transferred from my Visa gift card to my paypal, working perfectly fine. [img]http://i.imgur.com/2lPIt.png[/img] Okay, I kind of feel bad for posting this image, but not too much. Make sure you never deal with this kid ever. The next day, he just gives me the silent treatment. I try and strike up a conversation, he goes to play Bad Company 2, completely ignoring me. So he won't remove me, but he just will completely ignore me. That was the last straw, and I re-opened my ticket with Valve. And we conclude on a happy note, because Valve is absolutely amazing and refunded my gift and revoked 8BitLord's game. It was great. yes, but i'm assuming you knew this person fairly well. what The Best did is gift to a stranger, and then claim he got scammed when he should have had more sense than to do it in the first place

I have known him sort of fairly well. He had been on my friends list for quite a while and I originally added him to talk about Lucid Dreaming, to which he was semi-helpful on. Didn't seem like the kind of guy to do this.

Although I wouldn't send gifts via steam to people I know only through the internet with a promise of being paid back unless I've "known" them for years. Even then the few friends who I do trust like that have never asked for anything.

Well, he is on my friend list for a long time already. I added him in regards of music composing for Guard Duty mod... Well, he was just fine but at some point, something strange happened... I'm almost sure it's not the same guy, but his account has been hacked or something. Anyway, yea, he wanted BFBC2 from me as well and I was smart enough to not give it to him. So, be aware guys!

I've been on his friends list for ages, back when we played TF2 or something. He's asked me for games and stuff before, but I don't do that for anyone I don't know in real life. Maybe you should follow that thinking, OP. Feeling nice shouldn't outweigh naivete. So, about most things he's pretty cool but never get into a conversation regarding anything of a sexual nature unless you have a bucket nearby.

I hate people who beg me to buy them games.
