Hey people Going out to town in a bit, got some left over money on a game gift card so i thought i'd get a new RTS game for PC, what would you people recommend?? I was thinking the new red alert, but some people said it's bad. What do you think? Preferably Multiplayer
Evil Genius, if you like base building. Besides, what other game lets you torture your prisoners with the moonwalk?
Starcraft
Dungeon Keeper 1 and 2. Oh wait you said new RTS.
Dwarf Fortress.
That. If you get bored, I recommend reading the epic tale of Boatmurdered. The vomit-drenched, charred goblin corpses always gets my spirit back.
Warcraft III.
Starcraft
This. Thisthisthisthisthis.
Red alert 2
That I can run? Dawn of War Dark Crusade.
That I can run? Dawn of War Dark Crusade.
Dwarf fucking Fortress already
Command & Conquer and Total Annihilation are the only RTSes I've ever truly liked. Right now I'm playing through Tiberian Dawn.
Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth 2.
Starcraft
Overrated gameplay, but the story is fucking epic. Hm... Try the following: Original War, Homeworld 1 & 2, Age of Empires 1, 2 and 3, Dungeon Keeper 2 (A Sim actually but yeah), Startopia (If you liked DK2), Red Alert 2, C&C Series (Just skip the first part, way too old now), Rise of Legends, Starcraft (Overrated, yes, but worth knowing), Total Annihilation (a must), Warfraft 3 + Expansion, aaand that would be all that i can think of right now. I also heard the Total War games are great but i never tried them Wait, you said new? Screw new games, try the classics (Plus you didn't say new in the topic name :V)
Age of mythology. [editline]10:28AM[/editline] Empire Earth
Command & Conquer Generals: Zero Hour
Starcraft
Supreme Commander
I was thinking the new red alert, but some people said it's bad.r
Oh that's what people say if they hate fast-paced RTS games, its always the similar rant on each and every Command & Conquer. Red Alert is actually quite fun to play if you know what you're doing and quick. For a RTS game? I recommend Evil Genius if you like base design and sandbox-like feel or the Age of Empire series for balanced and medium-paced gameplay (for quicker games, choose the deathmatch option).

Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War with all of the expansions except Soulstorm. So much fun online.
Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War with all of the expansions except Soulstorm. So much fun online.
Soulstorm was so shit it was ridiculous. I only bought it so I had the whole lot. Whoever did Soulstorm butchered the game so much and performance went down the shitter.
RA3 was raped by EA, and kinda ruined the 1990's Military look. I liked it better when weapons that would probably exist in 200 years from now wouldn't be in the game, and it'd be like todays weapons.
Definitely TA Spring. My favourite strategy game by far, but Supreme Commander is pretty good as well.
Company of Heroes is my favourite modern RTS game, it's absolutely amazing. The main attraction for me is the fact it's not rock, paper, scissors gameplay, it's all about how you use your units, planning tactics and strategy. I've had one squad of paratroopers manage to take out entire panzer divisions before because I kept dropping them supplies like mortars and machine guns to take out infantry, upgraded them with anti-tank weapons to make short work of tanks and armour and using the environment to my advantage. To my knowledge, you couldn't do that in any other strategy game.
age of empires 2, red alert 2, dungeon keeper 2, total annihalation
Starcraft. /thread
Dawn of War 2.
Company of Heroes is absolutely amazing, me and a friend have spent so much time on it.
Warcraft III.
Yes
Either C&C Tiberian sun , or Total annihilation. personally I prefer Tib sun , but if you want to go in the direction of TA , get TA spring - you'll need to legally own TA though. EDIT: why dumbs?
Company of Heroes because killing hordes or Airborne, Rangers, Commandos, British Emplacements, British Infantry and 3 Lieutenants with a Captain, MP44 Panzer Grenadiers and medic bunkers with their large amount of undead warriors. Is fun.
