Sure it's on the 360 arcade place, but not all of us have a 360. As a console port, this game didn't lose a single beat in the process.
The game is phenomenal! And I promise there are no story spoilers in this, when you start the game it's all stuff you know already as the narrator tells the story.
Story (9/10):
The story is well written, but very close to the end it kind of starts to curve and go down. But right at the last couple of levels it picks up and kicks you into a whole scenario of "now I need to beat the game..."
You are the character known as either "Kid" or "The Kid" by the narrator, Rucks and as far as you know yourself the player.
Simple and short summary - The kid is trying to save the world while it persists to continue falling apart.
As you wake up, you’re lying in a bed and the first thought that comes to mind is "Oh I'm inside a building and just need to walk out, and the background is an interesting image."
The first steps you take kind of throw you through a whirl. The ground is being built underneath you, every step you take the event known as "the calamity". The game does a seamless and simple build up to getting you to Bastion, basically the last hope for all Caelendian (the name of the nation is Caelendia which sounds like saylandia for the hard to pronounce) people, a strong and proud nation. When you arrive at Bastion, you and Rucks are formally introduced, and are the only two people who have survived as far as you know. As it progresses, the more things that happen the harder your grip gets on the game.
That's where the story kicks off into the main line.
Not only that, but the story starts to make you question your character's motives behind the entire journey and why is he really doing it. You honestly start to lose faith that you’re the doing the right thing.
Gameplay (9.5/10):
Smooth and fun to play, with both the keyboard and mouse. But if you have it (and can plug it into your PC), a controller that works with your PC is a great way to play the game, but the keyboard and mouse add a huge difficulty factor. Be a boss, use the mouse and Keyboard. I used the controller the majority of the game, didn't notice any difference in how the mechanics shifted aside from using WASD to move and mouse to attack, as with some other buttons to dodge, use special attacks and charge up others. As you go through the game you acquire different upgrades for the various weapons you acquire throughout the journey to save Caelendia, Bastion, and the world as a whole.
The only downside(s) - the enemies got stuck here and there, and some parts of the ground looked as if you could walk on them even though they sat in front of you and were built with the rest of the ground.
Music (10/10):
Just a quick touch on the music. It's hard to describe, but damn is it easy to listen to.
Overall (9.9/10):
Hell I wouldn't even bother taking off the .1 point. It's that enticing! You can't just sit there and twiddle your thumbs hoping you will beat the game. You're actively dodging your way through massive attacks and dealing as much damage as you can in the process. I would strongly and highly suggest buying the game. 15 bucks can either buy you dinner, or you can go hardcore and just buy the game and say "lulwut? Dinner?”
