Its pumping heavy metal soundtrack, abstract, nonlinear level design and frightening enemies make its gameplay unmatched to this day. What is it? It's DOOM! When the original game was released in 1993, it was a revolution in graphics, sound, level design, music and gameplay. In the game, the player takes the role of an anonymous space marine working for the fictional Union Aerospace Corporation (UAC). UAC scientists had been experimenting with teleportation technology, hoping to create a new form of transportation. Originally using simple objects as subjects for the experiment, they set up teleporters on Mars' two moons, Phobos and Deimos. As time went on, they began to use human beings as subjects, who would come back speaking in tongues, telling a gruesome tale about a world of fire and brimstone with grotesque creatures around every corner before spontaneously combusting. The UAC had opened a door to Hell itself, and on one unfortunate day, the legions of hell began pouring out. The UAC sent in the troops to kill these beings, entering the UAC base's hangar first... ...They never came out. This thread is for discussion of all things related to the Doom series, including Doom 4 which is currently in development. Have fun! Doom 4 info -It will supposedly appeal to classic Doom fans -It will look better than Rage -It will take place on Earth -It most likely will not be named Doom 4 -It will "use id tech 5 to its full potential" -Rumored logo Doom 4 production shots:

Awesome, I love all the Dooms, 3 included.
Most of Doom 3 was pretty meh IMO, but the hell level made up for it, it was amazing.
Are there any mods for Doom3 that don't make it so dark? I don't like the duct tape mod very much.
I'll probably be flamed for this, but I was playing Doom 2 on the X-Box 360, and I found it really fun with the controller. Plus the Addon Campaign they made just for the X-Live Arcade release is pretty good. But Doom 1&2 will always be at home on the PC. I'd like to get that Doom 2 Addon on the PC. Also if someone does find the Doom 2 Campaign made for the 360 release, don't post it because it would technically be warez since it would have been ripped from the 360 version which you have to pay for.

I think you can turn up the gamma but I'm not entirely sure. I've seen gameplay videos of it and it looks awesome!
You mean No Rest for the Living? People who mapped it are members of the doom mapping scene.
I played Doom 64 when I was a kid, on the Nintendo 64. That game was creepy, and the monsters were really cool looking, as opposed to the more cartoony monsters from the PC Doom. The music was especially chilling.
Some of Doom 64 and PSX Doom's music was fucking terrifying.
I recently started playing through all the dooms again out of boredom.
Dude, did you even search? http://www.facepunch.com/threads/776988-DOOM-Megathread!?highlight=
Yeah, I'm not bumping a two year old thread.
Well you seemingly won't bump a month old thread about RAGE that you post in too instead of making a thread a bout a single video. You're also supposed to, the thread's last post wasn't from two years ago anyway.
The RAGE thing was due to my own foolishness and not thinking and I apologise for that. As for this thread, it's been created, it's not like I can un-create it.

smug but real talk doom 64 is a completely different game that doom 1 or 2
as it came out dudeguy has a name. Last name at least. And it is the same last name the wolf3d dude was and kommander keen it's Blazkowicz
Commander Keen's last name is Keen. Wolf 3D is B.J. Blazkowicz and it's just Doomguy not dudeguy
Actually, Commander Keen's real full name is William Joseph "Billy Blaze" Blazkowicz II 3v3ryb0dy is referring to the Doom Cell Phone RPG games where one of the Main Character's (modelled after the 'Doom Guy"), last name is "Blazkowicz". He fights a Cyber Demon which was a Demon (Minus the cyber parts) fought by BJ in the Wolfenstein RPG Cellphone game.
Excellent, another Doom thread. Watched some videos of Action Doom today, looks awesome.
-snip-
But the main character in Doom RPG wasnt dudeguy anyway.
Uh, BJB is Wolfenstein, not DooM, his descendant Stan is in the rpg. DoomGuy's name has been Flynn Taggart John Grimm John Kane
But the main character in Doom RPG wasnt dudeguy anyway.
I know, that is why I just said modelled after.

Doomguy never had a name, he was intended to be you. Any place that says he has a name is bullshit.
Commander Keen's last name is Keen. Wolf 3D is B.J.
If I remember correctly, the Doom 2 addon is just a standard .wad file, which can be extracted from your game data, and can be downloaded online.
yes, but it is technically Illegal since it wasn't released for free. Plus I don't know how to extract it from my game data on the X-Box.
Doomguy never had a name, he was intended to be you. Any place that says he has a name is bullshit.
Id is bullshit now? Someone there posted a link to it somewhere that was never taken down.
