Im having this problem, when I try to start up Minecraft on my PC, it does not work. I double click it, a sound notifyng me of an error occurs and the game does not start up. And I cant exactly be asked playing through the browser all the time. I tried re-downloading the launcher, and I have the newest JAVA installed. Any ideas on how to solve the problem?
Reinstall both again from fresh?
Just tried, with no success :/
Install the latest Visual C++, XNA, whatever you can find. I'm not quite sure what the launcher is supposed to be based on, but it's definitely not Java.

Is your systems time really far off?
The new launcher requires your clock to be right, or close, to work, so if you set your clock back to 2005 for some reason, you'll have to set it to the correct date before you can launch minecraft.
Whys that? :v:
