Why?
hALF LIFE IS an EXCELLENT RPG it might not be a JRPG but it's an RPG
pretty cool out of ten.
Because kingdom hearts is rated 9.6 I raged because I think it's more like 5 and battlefield 3 was rated 9.4 and it's clearly more fun then KH. Also I disagree that KH is more RPG than Borderlands.

Borderlands 7/10, bit too much quests/farming and not too much bosses.
Kingdom Hearts is probably a 6.5
A game can be more RPG than another?
Half Life is definitely more RPG than the rest no doubt hands down.

Why is the score relevant if the descision comes down to a non-subversive genre that can be clearly defined?
It either is an RPG or it isn't. You can be a mix, but that mix will be made of the sum of its parts.
I do not agree to rating games over 9/10 because that is near perfection, that's pretty much a game that has no downsides at all and is enjoyable in every aspect if you are into the gameplay style.
I have yet to play such a game.

Wow you care about what GameTrailers thinks, no wonder you made a thread when it's not needed or has a point.
Ok since im sorta the spawn of this whole thing (friend of Theobromine F.) ill try to clarify, i meant rpg in the sorta dungeons and dragons/world of warcraft sense of the word, like as you progress through the game your character also advances (so i would definitely disagree with what PrivRyan said about half life 2 being more of an rpg since all that happens throughout the game is you get more guns)
ok i would also like to point out that theobromine F. is saying kingdom hearts is more of a 5/10 and that battlefield 3 is definitely better while he hasn't actually played either, hes only seen me play for a matter of about 20 minutes.
i personally think that kingdom hearts is an amazing game worth around 9/10 and its i would say better than battlefield 3 which is still close to 9/10 and is an amazing game (even though ive only laggily played the beta)
TF2 around 8/10, fun and i play it all the time
not really a fan of rachet and clank so 7/10
and for rpg elements in the game i would say the order is
kingdom hearts
borderlands
then half life 2.

i would say that a game can come that close to perfection (but definitely never 10/10) when the innovation and good parts of the game are so that they outweigh the bad parts to create an excepetionally enjoyable experience.

BTW this all sorta started since i have a friend who just looks at a game for a few seconds and sais it sucks and we need nearly infinite outside sources.. basically he was saying kingdom hearts sucks and battlefield 3 is exceptionally better and everyone should like racing games etc etc etc...... sooo we started this thread to get the people of face punches opinion as it seems to be the only way to persuade theobromine F.

True I didn't play the game but I have played years of Rachet and clank (the same game but with a better story and guns instead of magic.) and it's the same game but without guns.

when i first played the beta, oh god i hated... its full of kids who sit in bushes and wait for you to walk by ¬¬
but when you unlock some more guns its okay :)
Borderlands was fucking awesome for me.
TF2 was fun but nothing too special.
And Kingdom Hearts is more of a RPG than Borderlands, which is more of a RPG than Half Life 2.

Also, for original poster: HL2 is a FPS/nothing to do with RPG.
If you want a FPS crossed with RPG, go for Deus Ex.
Kingdom Hearts was a good game. But it dissapoints me how easy KH2 is/can be.
Battlefield 3 isn't even out yet.

it wasnt really about gametrailers, that was just some sort of happenstance that came into this. it was more about a friend saying my favourite game as i was growing up sucked at first glance and used battlefield as a comparison (btw im still a fan of the latest battlefield games) but well, if you met this person you would understand entirely.
