Desura: another game distribution client. It is like steam's sister, except with fewer games.
What it looks like:

This is the Desura client. It is a very dark gui, as seen on most GD clients. On the top left, you can see their logo, and your avatar. In the toolbar, there are Private Messages, Shopping cart, Update, and Thread watch. There is also a search bar on the far right.
There are also six categories:
-Play: This is the category for installed/bought games. If it says Not ready, that means it isn't installed/located on the hard drive. If there is a "lightning" picture next to it, it means that the game is a demo.

-Games: This is your usual store for buying games and such. Once you buy them, it's the default process for game distribution clients: Add to user's account, user downloads it, and user plays it. (and yes, that is me attempting to find super meat boy in the top right corner.)

-Mods: Now this is possibly like steam, because Desura is all about modifications. If you have the game required, you click on install mod, and then run it. (correct me if this is not the way to install mods).

-Community: Just your average run-of-the-mill community, a forum, friends, and other community-related things. However, the group Linux Gamers will be discussed later in this post.

-Developers: Now, this seems even more different from steam: Desura is also all about indie games. If you were a game developer, go Steam first, then Desura second - because steam is a large platform of games, but Desura could have more control. But, there are multiple categories in this page:

The categories listed here are:
-Groups
-Games
-Mods
-Engines
-Companies
-Articles
-Downloads
-Job Ads
(Note: I do not have any experience whatsoever with every single category in here)
Lastly, there is Support:

Support is just a basic forum. The developers and users can help you.
Other possibly related things
Now then, what is it with Linux Gamers? I thought linux barely has games besides the ones from the Humble Indie Bundles!
Well, if you thought this, you thought wrong. Linux has games, but barely any GD (Game Distribution) clients. Desura currently has a Linux Beta going on right now (Valve, note this right now.) but it's invite only. Surprisingly enough, I got invited after joining Linux Gamers, then Desura. They accepted my invitation, and put me in a sub-group called Linux Gamers. I am available to now install Linux, and play games that are supported. This is a big (possibly?) step for Linux Games.
BUT STEAM IS BETTER ALSKJFLAKJCOAIJCELKNLKUAFOLN
Ok, ok, that's your opinion. You don't have to install Desura or anything else like that - I made this thread to show the users of Facepunch what Desura is (if they haven't heard of it)
What are the top three games and mods?
As of posting:
Games:
1. Project Zomboid
2. Amnesia: The Dark Descent
3. Commander
Mods:
1. Resistance & Liberation (for Half Life 2)
2. Lone Wolf Mod (for Battle of Middle-earth)
3. Dusk of Glory (for Knights of Honor)
That is all. Feel free to correct me if I made a mistake on something or I missed anything.
I had heard about Desura, but didn't really know what it was. To be honest, it doesn't seem that bad, way better than Origin, at least. Of course, it's smalltime compared to steam (Not saying steam is flawless, we've all experienced the random freezes and occational crash), but if they support linux games, that's actually quite the step forward. I won't download it, but heck, I'll sure look into it if some games become Desura-only
