This game could of been so good, But it wasn't.
Nowhere near as good as AvP (1999) and AvP 2.
This game could of been so good, But it wasn't.
Still fun tho, if you find a group of fun people to play with. Never fun to play alone. [editline]6th October 2011[/editline] Just gonna go grab some ingame screenshots and update the pics.
i will install this and contact you, ok? I like the game, but i have only played single player. I noticed that it needs some work but its still quite fun to play. The thing that pissed me off is that the invisibility isn't infinite like in the movie.

This thread is now about the insanely superior AVP:Gold and AVP2. To play AVP2 online nowadays, you need the master server patch since the servers were taken down. You can get it here. And AVP:Gold can actually be bought on Steam now, it's under the title "Aliens vs Predator 2000" and has a new but fairly rudimentary built-in server browser that has a couple servers up almost every day.
The newer one had insane potential, but it flopped in the long run. Still fun though, keeps to the original lore.

The new AVP wasn't bad, just mediocre. Infestation was fun (and scary) as fuck when you got a good team. Predator was OP in normal gamemodes, but the Alien felt just right. If people still played it, I would too. Maybe. If something pulled me from SPESS MEHREEN.
Being an Alien is still one of the most enjoyable experiences I have ever had the pleasure to have in gaming. Plus, we had a HISS BUTTON.

Plus, we had a HISS BUTTON.
I remember once, I was playing a multi-species TDM (the one where species work together to kill each-other) and everyone but me was a Marine. We were in the Pyramid. I won the game with one death. The people with mikes were terrified the whole time. I ambushed them, using the ports to take them by surprise. No-one saw me once, and I only died because I was crushed by a moving wall when I was chasing someone. Lucky bastard got away -but not for long. I remember someone fell into a darker area when I was pursuing his group (they were smart enough to stick together). He panicked, shot his rifle about, then switched to a flame-thrower. Even with the added light, he didn't see me 'till I was up in his face and in the middle of killing him. That's why I fucking loved playing as the Alien.
In retrospect, the hiss button is pretty much the Noisemaker button in TF2.
In further retrospect, the hiss button was actually useful against new players, because it scared the shit out of them and made them easy to spook! During the Multiplayer demo when it first came out, I had so many good kills against humans and predators because they kept spinning around looking for that hissing alien.
This game always had ungodly loading times for me, so bad I couldn't play it AT ALL. It would take an hour to load a map.
I always liked being the Marine for some reason. The nostalgic clicking of the Motion-Sensors.
The demo was a lot of fun, then the full game came out and everyone said it sucked so I never bought it

That's why I fucking loved playing as the Alien.
Congratulations, you pulled off the closest anyone will ever get to pulling off the Alien feel (and by Alien I mean the first movie, not the franchise in genral) correctly in a Multiplayer game. When I first got the game, I was obsessed with trying to play as a Predator in Predator Hunt, but it turns out that I suck as playing a Predator (well, that, and I think that the devs tried too hard to balance things in favor of the Marines and ended up making it near-impossible for any one man to remain as Predator for more than one kill). So instead I realized that Infestation was my favorite game-mode, and I actually enjoyed playing as an Alien more than I ended up enjoying playing as a Predator. Still, even then the Multiplayer just wasn't compelling enough for me, and eventually I quit, sorta like everyone else did, I guess. I still play Singleplayer every now and then, but for the most part I've lost interest. If they got rid of that shitty trophy kill system and rebuilt/rebalanced the game to accommodate, it'd probably have been better. It wouldn't be a Classic like the original AVP computer games, but at least people would still be fucking playing it.
This game could of been so good, But it wasn't.
Yeah, this sums up the game. SP was fairly solid, but MP was a mess at release. I wanted to like it, when everything clicked it was great. But getting into games took forever, pings were bad, and executions turned into a "congo line" where everyone rapes the marines and it just goes down the line till the last xeno is standing. The mode with the one predator and infestation mode were awesome, they got really tense and feel like they nailed the appropriate atmosphere, I could play MP centered just around those.
I tried playing this again the other day, got to the 3rd level on the Marine campaign and I just fell through the ground whenever I spawned. Never uninstalled so fast.
AVP2 was the best of the series imo, monolith should make the new games now.
This thread is now about the insanely superior AVP on the Jaguar
Which nobody played because the Jaguar sucked ass. Seriously, AVP was the only good game on that system.
I had a Jaguar and it was fucking EPIC.
I never understood why people hate this game, it's a masterpiece imo.
press enter to kill :|
press enter to kill :|
What? That's a weird way to say 'E.' That's what mine is.
I remeber buying the the new game for the xbox but the last time i played the multiplayer and everything was really glitchy, when i was able to join a game it took me like 10minutes to join it. Did they ever release a patch to fix it? Also i only bought the new one because the old avp2 for the computer was one of the best gaming experiences i ever had.
I never understood why people hate this game, it's a masterpiece imo.
It's decent but the SP has little to no replay value and MP is usually a conga-line of instant-kill-buttons unless it's a game-mode like Infestation or Predator Hunt (which, IMO, are the only good game-modes. The aforementioned intant-kill trohpy kill system ruined the other ones).
