Bastion is an indie action role-playing game with an experience that redefines storytelling in games. You play as someone only known as "The Kid" who has suddenly awoke to find his homeland destroyed by the Calamity, a disaster which has shattered your world into pieces. You make your way toward the Bastion, the place where everyone agreed to go if disaster happened, and as you walk you find that the world slowly rebuilds itself under your feet. Everyone else you knew is dead, and your the only living thing to survive, except for several mutated creatures created by the apocalypse. As you play, a sooth, sexy narrator's voice remarks on every move you make in the game. He tells you that the Bastion has yet to unlock its full potential, and you must find all of its cores in order to fix the destruction of the calamity.

To be released on PC: August 16th, 2011

-Unlock tiers of a variety of weapons, providing passive bonuses to them at the cost of blue potions and random antiques you find throughout the game

-Carry 2 weapons at a time as well as a special power for one weapon

-Build distilleries to provide passive bonuses from booze, forges to upgrade weapons, armories to equip certain weapons, and more

-Pay respect to gods at a shrine to get new bonuses and abilities, but also increase the difficulty of enemies in the game

-Find more about your past when you go to sleep and enter the dream world and face off a numerous amount of waves of enemies

-40 different levels (short ones though)

I'm wondering if this is like Diablo/Torchlight where theres randomized loot? Or is it more of a straightforward adventure type game? Regardless, this game looks great and I'll definitely buy it on the 16th.

Its based more on skill and strategy with a different variety of weapons rather than getting the best gear, since there really are no "straight upgrade" weapons, just different ones with the ability to upgrade them.

The art style is amazing, the music is great, the narrative and the overall way the story is told is quite original, and the gameplay reminds me very much of older RPGs. So far i'm having a blast, haven't gotten that far in to be honest though, I can't imagine it shits the bed on anything extreme though.

Is it worth the £12? The trouble I find with these sorts of indie games are that they're often over before you've really even begun to get into it, but I've been looking forward to this for a while and I am willing to pay that much if its a really good experience.

I heard it's only 6-7 hours long BUT it's one of the best game experience ever both gameplay and story wise.

Also has a New Game+ feature which I heard is pretty fun. Most people put 20 or so hours in.
