• Super Meat Boy! texture pack [WIP][32x]

I've started working on a Super Meat Boy! texture pack for Minecraft. Someone in the Minecraft forums had the idea, but I couldn't actually recognize any textures, so I made my own. I used textures from the game itself, none of it is actually my own. I actually kind of like the progress I made. The first shot features gravel in the cave; second shot has some cobblestone with an iron door, glass on the left and 'mossy' aka bloody cobblestone on the right. [t]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/764206/Super%20Meat%20Boy%21%20Preview%20%281%29.png[/t] So far I mostly left the ores alone in lack of ideas. However, the first idea I found on the Minecraft forums had bandages for diamonds which I liked, so I copied that. It's mostly the idea, it doesn't look like much yet. Also fuck you Lapis. [t]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/764206/Super%20Meat%20Boy%21%20Preview%20%283%29.png[/t] Wood planks and a tree. I don't like the trees, but that's because I had to make them myself since Super Meat Boy lacks it. It's mostly the leaves that fuck it up. [t]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/764206/Super%20Meat%20Boy%21%20Preview%20%284%29.png[/t] Also, sand is replaced by salt. It's not really clearly salt though, but I'm not sure how I could improve it. [t]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/764206/Super%20Meat%20Boy%21%20Preview%20%285%29.png[/t] Just about everything not pictures is not yet done. For the Nether I could use textures from Hell, Water/lava will be either Water/Blood or Blood/Lava. As for the rest, suggestions are welcome and needed. Looks really cool, good luck!
There's also two ideas I had. If I can find a way to change the 'sky', that might be a great way to give it a more "Super Meat Boy" look. Just need to figure out a good one. Also, I've wanted to use the retro textures in some way too. Either in a second texture pack, but that would require double the time. I could also drop the idea of the Nether as Hell and change the Nether into a retro level / warpzone.
Sand seems too white, but I like everything else.

This looks awesome, keep up the good work
I love it!
I really don't like the diamond ore texture. Also, trees kinda suck, but you already admitted to that. Everything else is really nice though.
I think your thinking of the Lapis ore, cause how could you have a Meatboy texture pack without the bandage.
the smoothstone doesn't seem to tile very well.
Can't you release the WIP pack? I'd like to try this one out! Also feedback is easier that way.
Too bad you made the sand salt, considering how it's non lethal and all. It would have made a very interesting replacement for Lava, although I'm aware Lava also exists in Super Meat Boy.
and i jizzed in my pants just looking at these pictures... cant wait for final release
the smoothstone doesn't seem to tile very well.
I'll redo it, I think I see what you mean. If you got a better idea for sand (and sandstone and cacti too!) I'd appreciate it. [editline]10th April 2011[/editline]
I really don't like the diamond ore texture. Then again, ores really aren't final yet. [editline]10th April 2011[/editline] Prototype water as blood turned out quite cool, even though in no level salt touches blood. No animation yet and it tiles horribly, but the overal idea looks pretty awesome if I may say so myself. [t]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/764206/Super%20Meat%20Boy%21%20Preview%20%287%29.png[/t] Your average mountain in Minecraft, with the current state of this texture pack. Gravel looks out of place, but then again, I never really liked gravel anyway. :v: [t]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/764206/Super%20Meat%20Boy%21%20Preview%20%286%29.png[/t] For lack of inspiration, I'll work on the GUI instead. If I get the GUI to my liking, I'll post a preview WIP pack.
Why not make Slowsand salt?
Because I haven't started on the Nether yet, and because I would need something else for sand. [editline]10th April 2011[/editline] Snow biomes are now blood biomes. [t]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/764206/Super%20Meat%20Boy%21%20Texture%20Pack/Super%20Meat%20Boy%21%20Preview%20%288%29.png[/t] I'm not too sure about the menu menu, but meh. Should make lava into salt and sand into something different.
Well done! I didn't think it'd look great when I heard the idea, but you executed it very well! Maybe use a different dirt texture though, just a thought.
I came when I saw the snow as blood, that is a fucking brilliant idea! :golfclap:
This is brilliant. Definitely use the zombie Meat Boys for...well...zombies, and maybe use the floaty meatball (on the far right) things for Ghasts. Possibly make the bow and arrow look somehow like the sawblade shooters or homing rockets?
Make the slimes into CHAD :v:
Have Creepers be Dr. Fetus.
Are Ghasts going to be one of the creatures in the game?
Cactus should be piles of hypodermic needles.
-nevermind i realized that I don't know shit about skinning-
This is great. Keep up the good work.
Cactus should be piles of hypodermic needles.
True, and similarly the sand could also be needles instead of salt. Then the nether could instead be made entirely of salt.
I think salt fits more with sand than it does with the nether. And needles fit more with the nether.
Exactly what I'm looking for, thanks man!
Thanks for the great suggestions and positive feedback! Needles for cacti for one sounds great. I'd need more fitting sand (and sandstone), but salt could be slowsand definitely. I'm not going to make lava into salt, though. It was an idea but lava or blood is more fitting. I'm probably going with lava, but I have yet to figure out how to do flowing water and lava. That'll be one of the later things as I think it's a bitch to do. I'm still thinking what I should do with the warpzone textures. I'm going to try give the nether a warpzone look, see how that turns out. If not, I'll go with Hell. Mobs weren't planned at first actually. Really great and fitting ideas though, I'll definitely look into it. Thanks again for the positive feedback guys! I think I'm going to try and see about the Nether first.
