Project CARS (Originally C.A.R.S. - Community Assisted Race Simulator) is the first venture by Slightly Mad Studios on the World of Mass Development platform. Here's a brief overview of WMD and how good it is for the gaming community:
WMD (World of Mass Development) is a new platform for games creation from the award-winning developer Slightly Mad Studios that allows:
1. Developers to submit ideas to an active gaming community, raise the funds needed to develop them, get continual feedback from community team members that can play work-in-progress builds, use the WMD Portal to promote their project, get help from other developers, and ultimately launch their game to an eagerly-awaiting audience
2. Players to browse available projects and join any they are interested in, download and play regular builds of the game, participate in discussion & polls, speak directly to the developers, and eventually earn money back for their contribution when the game is released
WMD is therefore a unique prospect for both developers looking to raise funds for their projects and gamers that want to get involved in exciting upcoming titles.
Users can buy "tool packs", different tool packs are available at different costs and provide different levels of access.

An important part of this system is that you are effectively making an investment by buying a tool pack for a WMD title. Based on the developers projections (in terms of Project CARS) if the game reached a projected revenue of €25,000,000, then you would receive 3-4x of the money back from your initial purchase.

I made the track list myself. The underlined tracks are tracks that are licensed and are going to be laser scanned for 100% accuracy when the developers get around to building them in game.

I am aware there was a previous megathread, but it was last posted in in April and had no content. I was thinking by making a new one, I could use it to run Facepunch hot lap events and other things like that if anybody was interested.

I miss playing GTR2 back in the day. I hope they release a Saleen S7 after release.
I hope they add Circut of the Americas eventually.
I never had a good reason to buy a wheel...now I have.:v:
Well I think I buy it next month, along with a wheel, I'm really looking forward to multiplayer races when this will be included in a later build.
The current wheel support is great, force feedback is great, there is a lack of front wheel drive cars though so until then the force feedback will probably change quite a bit when there's more to test it on. So yes, definitely worth buying a wheel for. I would too if I had the cash.
I have such a love for Laguna Seca.
Wait, so far 25,000 Euros or almost 31,000 dollars, I can have access to an exclusive forums section?
Just bought a junior account. I really wanted to play this.

I know you do a lot with YouTube and video editing, so getting the game in this stage could be good for you. There's high demand for video editors in the community at the moment, SMS recently offered a job to the guy that made the latest trailer and to be honest it was mediocre at best.
I've been following this for a while, as well as rFactor 2. I'd like to get it for my dad since he hasn't had a good racing game since the early Playstation 2 days.
MotoGames has been covering this quite a lot, if you're looking for videos.
Welp, I'm in for $39,000
Fuck this installer. I have a 64gb SSD which I manage very well with symlinks and it forced me to download the whole thing to the SSD before moving it to the installation location I asked for originally.
SO I had to delete a bunch of files.

That's interesting. I'll have to look into that. With my actual job I've been doing small commercials and things so adding trailers for development would be good too.
If you add a membership list to the OP, I'm Watevaman with the team member package. I think MP is going to be added in a few builds so it'll be cool to see how it works out.
Is DX11 bugged?
I opened it up and got 1fps on the menu. On my 4.5ghz 2600k and dual 3GB 580's :D
It shouldn't be, works fine for me on a 2500k and a 560. Try getting into the visual options and changing some stuff around
CONNECTION - Continuous Internet
I take it this is just for leader boards?

DX11 is bugged on my 680 too on the menu screen. Though it doesn't run at a low FPS, the graphics just shit themselves completely and it looks cel-shaded.
Seems to work when you get in-game though.
I'm a senior member now, have been thinking over becoming a Manager but I'm not 100% on it yet.

I'd take it that surely with a fee of that amount, you must be buying a share in the company, right? As far as I know, there's only a limited amount of this membership.
Holy god that looks realistic.

There was a guy on NeoGAF who bought manager when all the other members bought the equivalent of it. If you end up doing it, you should use the ad space for FP, unless you have a personal business or preference.
bought this the other week really exited about the carrer mode starting in karting and working up to any discipline i chhose sounds fun. Hope they do a good job with the rally aspect sick of these dirt arcade shit games R.I.P Q rally/ rally 2000.
is this game really demanding at the moment? is there a slated minimum and recommended specs?
I need to add this to the Sim Racing Megathread
Fucking badass racing game really. There's one car I particularly love to race, the Jaguar I believe, it's handling and speed are immense.
I'm a team member atm.

Yeah, because the enormous amounts of code made by professionals isn't worth shit right?
is this game really demanding at the moment? is there a slated minimum and recommended specs?
It isn't particularly demanding, I can run it all at the quality you see in the screenshots in the OP on a 2500k and a 560ti. You aren't going to be playing with stunning visuals on a Core 2 Duo but it'll run well and this game isn't all about the visuals, it's about the driving.
[editline]13th August 2012[/editline]
added a name table to the OP, if you want adding to it just post your WMD forum name on here and at some point we can set up Multiplayer games and Hotlap events
I don't like how spazzy the physics are at the moment
