Its kinda difficult to come up with ideas when all you tell us is that its like a mansion, but not a mansion, and you wont tell us the ways that it isn't.
Peewee's playhouse. Not a mansion but who gives a damn.
Make one room where you step on a pressure plate and open a piston door above you, dropping lava (or sand/gravel if you're a baby)
I had this idea for a while.
Make a 2 tall 1 wide hall, and have a 'mirror' somewhere. Put pressure plates on the player's side of the mirror, and whenever he/she walks on a preassure plate pistons will push down wool to imitate a player.
you should make a secret passage made of book shelves
build the mansion upside down
Go ask ostukin
Make a creeper statue, for that originality.
