I wouldn't say it's popular. My gamestore stocks the official HeroScape D&D minis, but not the game. People buy the expansions for the D&D minis. I own the game. Kids like it (I run, or used to run, but have been too busy to do so recently, a games club for kids at my wifes school. They love Bohnanza, Heroscape, Shadows over Camelot, and Pandemic). I hate running Shadows though, because none of them have the strategic thought needed to win, so I end up playing 8 players by proxy.
Heroscape is actually pretty cool. They stopped making the products though, I read up on it on Wikipedia one day.
