I stumbled upon this game a few days ago and i'm hooked on it, it's what's known as a Geo-Political-Simulator. Basically you control the political, economic and militaristic aspects of your chosen country and see where it takes you. Copy pasta straight from wikipedia herein.
SuperPower 2 is a Real-time strategy wargame developed by Canadian based GolemLabs and published by DreamCatcher Games in 2004, following SuperPower. It was released between October 11 and November 19, 2005 in North America and Europe. Players may join a game as any of the 193 nations recognized by the UN at the time of its development. All standard games start in the year 2001, with the player taking control of their nation. They then must work toward their predefined goals, such as achieving world peace, balancing your nation's resources, or conquering the world, or, if they did not set any predefined goals, they have the opportunity to work toward developing their nation's infrastructure, increasing their military strength through new unit designs and development, and encouraging the economic and cultural growth of their nation. Any nation not controlled by a player is considered an AI nation. If there are predefined objectives, the player will attempt to reach this objective to win the game. The AI will have their own objectives, which they will try to reach as well. If and when the player and the AI have conflicting goals, it is up to the player, and occasionally the AI, to decide if diplomacy is the way to go, or if war is the answer to their problems. Because Superpower 2 is a real-time game, there is no preset end date. This means that a single game can, in theory, run indefintely. -- Areas of interest in the game include: * Politics * Constitution and law. * Internal Laws * Treaties * Strategic Warfare The political sphere consists of all political activity, domestic and international, of the selected nation. This sphere allows players to see (and modify if own nation is selected) internal laws, government type, and diplomatic agreements. Treaties and policy. The military sphere consists of all military and covert operations. This sphere allows players to buy, sell, build, train, deploy, disband a variety of military units. It also allows players to train intelligence cells and conduct covert warfare. In addition, strategic warfare is controlled from this sphere. Buying/Selling/Researching and building units. Strategic warfare consists of nuclear missiles being launched from land based locations, or from submarines. Nuclear warfare is devastating for both the attacker and the victim. When a nuclear missile is launched and detonates in another nation, relations with nations around the world decline, depending on the importance of the nation attacked. The attacker's nation also becomes less stable, increasing chances of a revolution. Russia attacking the US with nuclear weapons. The economic sphere consists of all financial activity. From this sphere player can view (and control if the selected nation is the same as the player's) income and expenses as well as trade and taxes. Players can set national interest rates, income tax levels, tariffs, and spending levels in this sphere. Players can also nationalize or privatize portions of their economy. I had an intense multiplayer game of this where I was iran and my technology was insanely good. I had 5 planes, 1 ship, and 50 tanks, and like 5000 infantry and had the highest rating army in the world. [editline]10:19PM[/editline] protip, buying black market military equipment is useless.
I came in expecting an RTS where you play as a super-powered government leader. :(
This got real big in my class some months ago. I never got into it though, I can't get to grips with the interface. It's just too messy.

This sounds very interesting, I'll have to check it out.
I enjoyed the first one, it's a HoI/DF game that's all confusing and takes days to learn and weeks to master, but after playing a game or two well you'll feel like you could take over the world.

this looks like hearts of iron but better. i'm buying it thanks for telling me :D
Rules usa like a democrat. Fuck we are screwed. Tried it as republican, screwed a little bit later. Tried my way of governing. Seems like that was the best one yet.
this looks like hearts of iron but better. i'm buying it thanks for telling me :D
It isn't, but it's still quite good. I just think that Hearts of Iron captures the essence of it more than this game.
I can't find the game on steam.
I can't find this anywhere.
You can probably find it amongst the linux distros. Looks like it's close to abandonware.
Awesome. I can't even play the shit because I have Windows 7. Windows Vista isn't supported either. A window pops up literally telling me that it only works on Windows XP and below and then it closes.
That's strange, i'm using it on Windows 7 right now. protip: don't attack china with nukes cause they launch so many back the game crashes :crying:
I can't find it on any linux distro sites. :crying:.
I can't find it on any linux distro sites. :crying:.
Same here, the private ones don't have it either :crying:
[sp]I do believe it's okay to torrent abandonware...[/sp]
[sp]I do believe it's okay to torrent abandonware...[/sp]
It's morally grey, the problem is determining if it really is abandonware or not.
You could always ask the creat- Oh wait...
Anybody else remember Conflict: Middle Eastern Political Simulator?
This seems kinda like the game I've always wanted.
meh brb cod
Looks awesome but the demo doesn't work on my computer.
Just played the demo and the game seems great but this is the worst kind of game to have a timed demo. Also no tutorial so it took me 20 minutes to figure out why a world superpower was getting their ass kicked by Ukraine.
Anybody else remember Conflict: Middle Eastern Political Simulator?
Nothing like fighting muslims while partying it up after getting a huge amount of money for defense from the US :v:
How the fuck do you complete the demo mission? Every time I invade anywhere except Ukraine and China it turns into a World War with Europe and the US declaring war on me.
I misread the title as "Sugar Power 2" and thought it was some game about sugar fighting the forces of evil or something.

This won't work against china, because their economy is nationalised
How the fuck do you complete the demo mission? Every time I invade anywhere except Ukraine and China it turns into a World War with Europe and the US declaring war on me.
if you want to invade somewhere, pick a country that has low relations with the world, and by low, i mean red (-100, to -60), and check their alliances too, if they are hated then there is a high chance their allies won't defend them, else you can play it the hard way - build a huge army ( +100k land forces not including soldiers) and train it to elite. if anyone has any questions regarding this game, ask them in this thread
