Welcome to the first annual EOS Thread.
What is EOS?
Edge of Space is a game in lieu of Terraria and Starbound. Think of it as Starbound in a Grimdark setting.
PLOT: Earth is basically FUBAR. A Mega-Corperation "ArkCo" and its affiliates have began loading people onto massive starship cryobays called "ARKS" and proceeded to GTFO. For some reason, the 3 affiliates turn on ArkCo. ArkCo proceeds to fire its pods off in absolute random blindness into space because that's always a good idea.
You're one of the poor sods shot off.
Laser Sharks.

I'd say it's more like Starbound on LSD but okay your way works too.
Honestly, this looks terrible.
Lifeless levels with a jarring art style that doesn't mesh with eachother very well at all.
Yeah, there's obviously a lot of room for improvement.
Like a simple goddamn light source and a less-complicated crafting system.
That trailer was horrible and even though I wanted to give these guys the benefit of the doubt last year, it's obvious they're trying to ape Starbound in some ways. Mainly with the whole... penguins thing.

yeah that's true, but then again wasn't this announced before starbound?
Febuary 2012 for Starbound
???? 2011 for EOS
I bought it in steam for myself and a friend and thus far I have had a pretty bad experience. The support is pretty bad, the developers are so unprofessional and overall the game needs tons of polish.
To host a server you need to open the port "1337", someone on the forums said that he couldn't create a server because all the ports under 270000 are not changeable in his country, so he asked if they could change it.
Their answer was "NOPE, it's 1337, we're just Nerds like that XD"
Seriously?

That's... that's not a direct quote is it?
Yes, it actually is.
I stated directly that they were incompetent and lacked professionality which is a disgrace. A user wrote to me "well, they don't seem to wear ties at work". Then two of the developers responded to my post with:
"I don't even wear pants :P"
and
"I like whales"
I'm not shitting you. Have a look look for yourself on the second page. The forums are a mess.
I think the Devs have trolled you hard.
Holy shit.

I'm sorry you seem to believe that I have to be a professional more then I should be personal, I've been an indie developer for over a decade. This is how I do things, I respect my community and respect your perspective, but this our community and we are allowed to act how we want to act.
That being said, pickles.
While I admire his decision to run things the way he wants to, he literally shat on you and told you to fuck off.
What a piece of shit to expect any kind of respect that he desires when he doesn't even give you any piece of mind.
Is this game still crap?
Also why can't indie devs just act like normal people rather than "Whacky", like christ I doubt they act that way in public, and nowadays the internet is the most public place out there.
I think the Devs have trolled you hard.
I don't think that you should troll that "hard" when you're a developer. Sorry, but that was pretty immature of them. Also if you check some other thread, they still have this kind of shit attitude towards other people.
So, if I own Starbound is there any reason for me to get this?

I've played it for a while now, it's seems pretty neat and does look promising but it still lacks a ton of polish. The interface is horrible and there are numerous issues to fix. Nevertheless I'm having fun right now, although keep in mind that I haven't played Starbound.
I would wait until the game gets fully released, it has some pretty cool ideas but it's a bit rough around the edges.
