The Last Disbeliever is an art-driven and slow-paced First Person Adventure/Shooter/Action game for PC and Linux.
Set in the alternate world, where US had started a merciless campaign for worldwide domination, it tells the story of an ATF Special Agent Sebastian Arise who was sent to track down a group of illegal firearms dealers. It brings him into a closed village in Eastern Europe which is ruled by a ruthless Christian cannibalistic cult called Holy Intentions.
There he involves himself into a web of intrigues between immortal feeding-on-human-emotions daemons and travels to year 1366 A.D. trying to fight the unstoppable forces in the dungeons of Cold Castle, a place which serves as a home to all kinds of paranormal and unexplainable activities.
It’s not a gung-ho shooter, combat is slower and more tactical, with all out gun-fights best being avoided. There’s a great atmosphere in the game, with a real sense of tension and danger throughout. It’s an intriguing game, that will keep you wondering (and dreading) what will happen next.
I dunno about that Stanley Parable-esque bit. I think they could have been more original.
Personally, since it's an art driven game, I think the whole "aiming down the sights" gimmick wasn't needed.

I don't get how the use of ironsights is suddenly a gimmick

Aiming down sights isn't a gimmick, it's how first person shooters work.

in videogames they are usually unnecessary because your bullets will go to the center of the screen anyways. many games counteract this by making your bullets fly straighter if you aim down the sights which is weird.

Other than Killing Floor I've yet to see a game that doesn't use bullet-spread when firing without ironsights when they're a mechanic.
Insurgency?

The purpose is to allude to/simulate the differences between hip-firing and properly aiming down the sights
Not all video games have to be bare-bones arena shooters
