• Half-Life Extended Universe wiki - new HL wiki to look for

Hi, here's a project that I'm currently doing : http://hleu.wikia.com/wiki/HLEU_(Half-life_Extended_Universe)_Wiki Q : What's the HLEU? A: Half-Life Extended Universe. Like the SWEU (Star Wars Extended Universe). Q : What's this all about? A : it's about grouping the most valuable mods and other HL related things to build the most believable connections between Valve work and the amateur work. Q : ??? A : When you play a mod, it's cool to have more motivation, more... context!! When you play a janitor, for example, in a Black Mesa mod, it's a new character I can consider canon, unless he does stupid things, like killing Gordon/G-man, or saving the Earth. Q : There's already a wiki. A : CombineOverWiki is more concerned about official things, and cares little about the mod. Their work is really exceptional, but I'm more focused on something for the mod players, and those who like to make their imagination work. Q : What's "official" in your wiki? A : Nothing. Because even Valve don't know how to consider the Gearbox expansions, acting with them like Schrodinger's cat : both canon and non-canon at the same time. And it's the same with the mods. Unless something in the future contradicts a fact in Op For, Blue Shift, Decay, or "canon" mods, it can be considered canon. That's it. For now. If HL3 makes a statement like "NO ONE SURVIVES BLACK MESA EXCEPT BARNEY, SHEPHARD, AND GORDON", then all the mod's with people surviving BM will be considered non-canon by this point. Q : If a mod is really great but non-canon (i.e. Gordon dies, for example), what's the consensus? A : I will considered that as an "alternate timeline" born from the Resonance Cascade and the massive Portal Storms : disruption of the space time continuum. Believable. Addendum : you can see the list of all the mod's I consider canon so far, or non-canon but great, in the "timeline" page of the wiki. Cheers.
This is interesting. In a good way.
Ooo, I like this. Get a lotta lesser known mods known now.
I hope the mod Redemption gets an article, I loved that mod (it was an unofficial sequel to Half-Life but by god I was convinced it was a creation from Valve).
It'd be interesting to see if someone could fit Mistake of Pythagoras in there and actually have it make sense.
Apart from an alternate Timeline, MOP makes no sense at all sorry. I mean, alternate timelines caused by the teleportations experiments/Résonance Cascade/Portal Storms is a cheap and convenient plot device, but that's the only way to fit some mod's. And even other mod's such as Get a Life or G String won't fit, because I'm using at least one HL element to fit. These two mod's for example, are great but can't be part of the HLEU. However, Nightmare House 2 and Underhell could fit (for now) because they don't feature Dystopian future (but différent from HL2) or end of the world things, they're More "intimate" so i Will case them.
MINERVA: Metastasis/Someplace Else/Out of Time deserves a spot on this wiki.
Include smod :v:
I hope the mod Redemption gets an article, I loved that mod (it was an unofficial sequel to Half-Life but by god I was convinced it was a creation from Valve).
Of course, and even cooler is that Absolute Redemption can really be considered "canon" in-between HL1 and HL2, it is one of the few mods that don't mess too much with the storyline, besides the "other people stuck in Black Mesa" mods. They are also mod's involving time travel, like Timeline saga (with interdimensional nazis, and even a reskinned Gman as Hitler), and another one which is an HL2 mod, but it's a twist in the ending, so I don't want to spoil it, so I will use balises : [hide]Calamity mod which is Gordon sent during the Resonance Cascade, in HL2 time when Combine are building the Citadel [/hide] So, it's basically very interesting at least for me, but I don't want to mindfuck too much nor trying too hard, so I won't add every map or mappacks that are linked to the HLverse, first of all the more popular, highest rated, and then some other long mod's which can be crap, and then I will try to add some interesting smaller pieces of work. Smod? LOL. I can also add Counter-Strike, you know, as an unending battle between the forces of justice and the terrorists across the world, before HL1 events, but since this is a MP game, with no relevant characters, no storyline, and also the SP version called Condition Zero is just complete bullshit, there is no reason at all for this. And that's the same case for all MP mod's. About PORTAL, I won't add this yet, because the global Portal-verse is mainly phagocyted by Chell and GlaDOS, and besides Portal Prelude, the other mod's don't include relevant content to make a great universe. So Portal won't be my priority, and there is also so many "hidden" mod's which are worth the try and worth the fit in the HLEU, that this will take me some time to do that. But feel free to add Portal characters, Portal storyline, Portal (relevant) mod's to the wikia. I won't have a hard hand on this.

Just a question, what do you do with mods that attemp to explain the same thing? For example The Awakeing and Opposing Force 2.
Btw, I need someone who can do a better logo for the wikia. It's not a big deal, I just need the same logo but in better quality. For those who would ask, the logo is a reversed logo of the SRS (Scientist faction) in Grand Theft Auto 2. I didn't want to use the lambda logo, once more, so at first I wanted an exponential function (from "Half-Life" to "Exponential Life" for the HLEU, the idea was cool but the logo as well as the graphic function is just LAME), so I switched to this logo, which fits really IMHO : instead of a straight arrow, it's like a segment going from left to right, such as the fluctuations induced by the fan/alternate universe, but in the end, the arrow meets its end and all is well. Yeah. EDIT : @KingNick : Ha ha, well the Awakening is pretty cool since it shows us an explanation as how the Antlions invaded the Earth, so I don't want to erase this mod. The explanation can be found : OpFor 2 is set in the early days of the Combine invasion (it is said explicitly, for example the Proto-combine and the arrival of the Citadel), whereas Awakening is set at a time where Breen is already the big boss and where there is already "complete" Combine soldiers. So I guess OpFor 2 will be the "first" time Shephard is freed from stasis, and Awakening the second time. They don't f*ck up to time the timeline, so it fits in the timeline, for me. I've talked with Phillip from PP to create a timeline, he advised to use Simili Widget Timeline Creator, or Timeline creator, but I'm not good with this kind of tools, so I'll do my best to create the best timeline/storyline of events, the one on the wikia is very Work In Progress so far.
Speaking of the Awakening, what was that structure you were in that released the antlions? It didn't look combine
What's this? An idea that isn't terrible? Sound the alarms gentlemen
