Hi guys! We've been working on a server for a while to get the right map and plugin combinations and its ready to be checked out! I'll tell you a little bit about it and keep it short! TFR is a server with a vastly beautiful world painted map with almost every biome combination slotted in realistically! Its an Adventure, PvP, PvE, RP, Faction server with some pretty neat twists! We've got legendary weapons which are found deep in our darkest dungeons! Or earned through server quests. An example of one such artifact? Night vision helm..Life stealing dagger.. Fire ball/lightning bolt shooting staff... 3 of a very long list.. but, with that said. It'd truly be a sight to see one in person! Because the map was worldpainted each biome really feels like its own seperate region. We've furthered this regional identity by adding a crop growth features! Check out the server at IP: Theforgottenrealm.hosthorde.net or alternatively IP: s22.hosthorde.com:25678 Have a walk around! Let us know what you think :) Oh.. and if you're looking for more information or the quality of server check us out on planet minecraft! i try it. looks it would be active.
Haha good man! See you on there later!
I'll check it out later today.
Sounds cool and I am happy that you chose world painter for the server's map.
Yeh me too! Sometimes vanilla minecraft needs a little something extra! A realistic setting with wide winding rivers and weathered features like sea caves :) Heres an image I took exploring the north a minute ago!
I'm hopping on right now to take a look. In-game name is "kittykathax".
Where on the map is spawn, exactly? Dead center?
Darn, living in an Ice Plain/Mountain biome is going to be tricky I think. There isn't much you can do about food besides maybe haul in chickens from 1k away, or fish. I haven't tried mushrooms yet, but this PwnPlantGrowth plugin really eff's things up for cave dwellers. It's going to be fun once I get the food situation sorted out. =) http://imgur.com/udDNhhz [editline]11th January 2014[/editline] (0,0) Is the general noob gathering area. From there you can access and travel to most parts of the world. I'm not sure how anything relates to the map, though. =/
Spawn is in the far west coast! But as Ulriik said if you travel to X:0 Y:62 Z:0 You'll find a large river nearby which will bring you to several regions depending on which way you follow it!! Also, as a note, those coords are in a region called the 'heartlands' its the one region where most things grow! As for the plugin I'm willing to listen to suggestions for growth up north but I'm not certain about it! If you have bonemeal anycrop will grow anywhere!
There ought to be a chest for starter food at spawn for new players. I've found so far no animals anywhere in the world in exploring, I don't know if that's due to the server or just bad luck. So far for food, I've had to rely on cutting down oak trees in hope of apples falling. I don't want to start a farm because I want to head into the far north to build a hope. Also, there was a sign that said "Push the button behind you" when I started but...there was no button?
Ah, its through the crack in the wall! Its an easter egg :) As for food, players should be getting 5 bread and a fishing rod when they spawn for the first time they spawn. Im checking if this is the case. For now, I advise using the bonemeal you may of collected. Bonemeal will make any plant grow no matter what biome! Or fish! Those are two of my suggestions. Regards mob spawn. Animal spawns are turned on but there is a server cap. One has to be killed for another to spawn. I have seen a large amount of meat in the Heartlands region. (Plains) Its a large flat valley at X:0 Y:62 Z:0 I've noticed a number of factions setting up near there becuase plant growth is more hospitable there. (And theres a roofed forest nearby. Lots for mushrooms and druids!)
As for food, players should be getting 5 bread and a fishing rod when they spawn for the first time they spawn. Im checking if this is the case.
This was not the case for me, I spawned with nothing. As for the plains, it's tempting but I want to build a viking-esque style in the cold snow lands to the north and try to survive there.
Its a hard place for hard people! There are some really cool magical caverns in the mountains! Check them out:) I know a few dwarves have already settled in! I'm thinking about putting in a portal or two later on today from spawn to the mouth of the great river! It should be working fine. I'll get onto to dev about it now.
Maybe if you could draw out a rough map of the world with the different regions marked down? I'd love to create a sort of historical map like you have in Oblivion that just shows the regions and terrain.
Anyone in need of food, I have quite a bit of it. Perhaps we could organize a trade?
Looking for builders. the Dorheusat ald Giml faction is trying to build a dwarven city. all help is welcomed.
Can't resolve hostname
Strange, its working fine for me! Try IP: s22.hosthorde.com:25678
Yeah stillstanden, I had to go find the correct IP from the hosting site. The one you posted in the OP didn't work for me either. Anyway I've been on the server here and there and the starting place was pretty neat. I kind of branched off to form my own settlement.
Thats very strange, I'll look into that tomorrow. Thank you! It was mostly community built! There will be events in future to add to it. Its nice to have your own stamp on a spawn imo. Oh, whats your in game name? I must visit sometime!
Looks awesome. I'll give this a go when I get some freetime.
i find it very hard to coordinate using the map provided in the op
This looks sick, I'm gonna check this out later.

It's a huge patch of sand so I may or may not relocate before I get too far ahead.
Finished my barn, finally. Now to set up my crops.
i find it very hard to coordinate using the map provided in the op
Try this one instead! http://puu.sh/6lETr.jpg
You should edit a map of the server with the locations of main cities, spawn area, etc. so It's easier to navigate/plan a place to settle. I would say get dynmap, but maybe it wouldn't be a good idea if there are people who like to have a hidden area in the wilderness.
Dynmap allows you to hide your character and its something we've considered since the begining. But, I don't really want this period of discovery to be walked over. Exploration is pretty important atm but I would still like to say that we will definitely get a map up and going when the time is right!
Well the current map you supplied is fine, but you could point out the spawn location with a Red dot or something, because I have no clue.
