In addition to huge savings throughout the store, the 2011 sale features two special promotions that allow you to win like never before. The Great Gift Pile challenges gamers to complete up to six objectives each day. Completion of each objective grants the chance to win a free game or discount coupons for select games available on Steam. If you don’t win, no worries, you’ll be given a piece of coal. But hold onto that coal! Why? Coal is the ticket to enter the Epic Holiday Giveaway. It’s called Epic because the top prize is every game on Steam. The more coal you have, the better your chance of winning. Players may alternatively choose to magically mix their coal into something shiny and new by “crafting” seven pieces into a gift from the Great Gift Pile. So this year receiving coal is a good thing. Didn’t get what you want? Of course Steam allows you to trade coal and prizes with your friends. Further details on these events and information on how it’s progressing may be found here. Complete information on all the savings, daily deals, featured publisher game packs, compilations and more may be found on www.steampowered.com
Enjoy the last two hours of the sale, everyone. Good luck with the giveaway, and be sure to craft lots of unneeded coupons and Valve games.
Anyone trading Silent Hill: Homecoming?
I have 10 coal and 7 coupons, looking for renegade ops or bastion
I have 12 coal and want Frozen Synapse Edit: 13 actually
any offers for ep2 and valve coupons?
so who won
why do i still have my coal in my inventory
The winners won.
Completely forgot about the big prize draw and noticed I had 9 games in my wishlist. 2 minutes left on the clock I just managed to enter in time. When do the official drawings take place?

Yeah, should I craft the coal or wait? Did they choose the winners yet?

So that leaves me with 7 coal, two Valve Coupons, and nothing won. More annoyingly, I already have every single Valve game. Bloody hell. :v:
Is the winner selection instant, or is it a "Through-out the day" thing?
I'm pretty sure there is a trading thread for this stuff, this thread is for discussion amirite?
Fuck, I just realized I'm not in the drawing since I only have 9 games in my wishlist after I bought payday yesterday.
How to use the damn coupons?
So the drawing didn't start yet?
How to use the damn coupons?
Coupons are applied instantly when a game is put into the cart. As long as the coupon applies to said game, it will put a discount on it before you even select to make the purchase.
what if I have 2 different coupons? [editline]2nd January 2012[/editline] drawing is tomorrow.
[editline]2nd January 2012[/editline] drawing is tomorrow.
Sauce?
Sauce?
It's in the rules somewhere. Let me find a link. [editline]2nd January 2012[/editline] it's in there somewhere, trust me.
(b) Epic Holiday Giveaway. Sponsor will select the following winners by random drawing from all valid entries by January 3, 2012: one (1) Grand Prize, fifty (50) First Prizes, one-hundred (100) Second Prizes, and one-thousand (1000) Third Prizes
Remember my Dark_Prince problem? Yeah, my new year is now ruined.
I made out well trading coal. About 30 games overall, no ban. Now Steam is fucking trolling me, every Steam game I try download doubles in size after 5 minutes. Is L4D2 really 14gb?
Wow, Valve is really getting hammered on this coupon shit...

Is L4D2 really 14gb?
Happened to me several times during the sale. Went to install L4D2, saw it was 7gb, remembered I owned it retail so I popped in the dvd and installed from it. It installed 5gb, so i figured downloading the extra 2 wasn't so bad, because it wouldn't take nearly as long. Went to check time remaining, saw it was 14gb suddenly.
Just downloaded L4D2 too, 14 gb here too.
Ah, it said 7.5gb at first, and from the pre-install screen. Did that with Worms Reloaded and Killing floor too.
[img_thumb]http://i42.tinypic.com/i2vonn.png[/img_thumb] That's a fucking awesome discount. Especially considering it wasn't discounted at all during the sale.
Well oops, there were 5 or so achievements I could have gotten but never got around to.
