About Completely reimagining the classic Arena FPS formula, Chroma infuses fast-paced PC shooter action with music-driven gameplay. Join the fight as a Fader, a musical icon of the future, and battle for control of the all-encompassing cultural feed known as The Signal. In Chroma, music is your weapon. Sound is your arsenal. This is Harmonix's first PC game, and continues their trend of making music/rhythm based games. Chroma is currently in closed alpha It'll be released exclusively through Steam sometime in 2014. Key Features: Music-driven FPS gameplay – Music matters. Chroma features innovative first-person shooter mechanics that tie the game’s soundtrack directly to combat, traversal, and more. Music is your weapon – Unleash streams of sound and music with your arsenal and bring the musical landscape to life in battle! From deep wobbling bass to the crunch of an electric guitar, crushing metal drums to poppy synths, choose a weapon load-out that reflects your musical tastes and personal style and take your sounds into battle. Band together – Your team is your band: Join up with your friends and battle for glory. Master multiple classes, each with their own unique musical gameplay mechanics and perks, and lead your team to victory. Conquer shifting terrain – “Change Ups” at major musical moments dramatically alter the landscape of the battlefield in real time both physically and strategically, raising sniper towers, adding cover, and more in sync with the music. Free-to-play, but not “pay-to-win” – Free to jump in and play with deep customization, but smartly designed to preserve a fun and fair experience for all players. So, who else has gotten into the alpha? If there's enough of us, we should get a FP group together.
I got into the closed alpha. I'm not really sure how much I can say beyond that. I'm downloading now, and I'll give a general good/bad response when I can.
I can't access the alpha forum :(
You think Harmonix will get mad that I filled out the survey a second time? I'm not entirely sure it went through the first time (since I used that "+string" feature Gmail has, a lot of email services have problems with that)
I will say that there are no graphical options of any sort right now. I'm stuck at a res that doesn't fit. When the game's FPS drops, it literally stutters. When it stutters, the game gets out of sync. The weapons training bugs out after a while. But it has tons of potential - it's in alpha.
For what it's worth, someone on the private forums made a thread about modifying some ini files to change graphical settings. I didn't read too much about what could be changed, but I imagine you could at least change the resolution
Can't wait to start discussing this game. I have a lot of ideas that I hope to give as feedback.
Got my alpha key a few days ago, have forgotten to install. I have high hopes for this game, I love harmonix.
This game has tons of potential but I literally cannot play it due to it being locked at 1280x720 for the alpha test. My tv has this weird shit going on where it can't support 720p or 1080p because it extends past the edges of the screen and gives me like a 600-700ms delay on my mouse movements. 1680x1050 works perfectly fine though. At any rate the game feels pretty solid but it's pretty hard to get used to trying to play an fps while also playing a rhythm game. Having to click at the beats to shoot dual pistols is infuriating because I'm trying to focus on aiming and not beat following :v:. There's an NDA up so I'm not sure how much more I can say or if I said too much already.
Rhythm based FPS, now there's a fucking novel idea if I've ever heard one.

It will literally pause the music and beat-match patterns and stutter them, which is infuriating for me. The resolution lock isn't helping either though.
