• Are there 2 Different Advisors?

So it seems that there are two different advisor types throughout the hl2 series: The Combat Advisor: It is fast, and can stun enemies. It is smaller and is less bulkier. It seems quicker because of smaller size. it has smaller and more flexible hands for grabbing objects and such. It also can move objects with telekenisis. It Can Levitate and it is seen in Hl2 episode 2. It seems to feed off of Humans: Then there is the Monitor Advisor: This is the Advisor that we see Dr. Breen talking to in Hl2. It has claws and seems bigger and less maneuverable. If you look through the Hl2 model viewer it has few combat moves it can claw and thats about it. There is no evidence that it can move objects with its mind. It also seems to be able to communicate with humans: So tell me this, is that advisor model just an early model of the advisor or is it a completley different type? Discuss 9/14/09 Also Some other differences i noticed: Advisor Ep2 Advisor HL2
Advisors are the Combine Commanders, and there should be someone to command the commanders. That is the second model.
They're the same thing, Valve just changed the model so it looked better for Episode 2
Probably just an older advisor, you can tell by the darker wrinkles and larger muscles, and battle scars
Hl2 advisor also does not have tounge
Probably just an older advisor, you can tell by the darker wrinkles and larger muscles, and battle scars
Have a green checkmark.
In all likelihood they just made the model look better.
The HL2 Advisors are seniors, and the EP2 Advisors are minors.
tbh the old model looks better in some ways, looks too low poly but the extra details like pipes etc were good. I always assumed the ep2 advisors were babbies
It was probably hooked up to life support in HL2/Ep1, thus the tube leading to its "mouth."
tbh the old model looks better in some ways, looks too low poly but the extra details like pipes etc were good. I always assumed the ep2 advisors were babbies
This. The Combat Advisor you were basing your evidence off of was a baby Advisor. Hell, you saw it Hatching in EP2. The Monitor Advisor is probably the Lead Advisor or something. It's ability to talk with Humans, and the Administrator of Earth, may put it at more of a regal stance.

It would make sense if EP2's advisor had a different model name. But seeing as it's still called "advisor.mdl" I doubt it. My guess is that they had to make a new model for the new animations they were going to add, and decided to give it a little makeover as well. I'm surprised we didn't go through this over the (much more noticeable) Vortigaunt.
An interesting thought, I think, that the two different models might actually constitute different Advisors. Have an Informative.
They probably removed the tube and the large bases at the center of the arms because... A) Younger advisor recently (and rudely I might add) cut off life support. B) The animations that Valve created for it made it hard to add the tube and bases at the arms so they cut them from the game. Makes sense if you think about it they would have to make a dynamic tube that didn't look like a rope entity (because it would be constantly flinging around.) but still looked awesome. that would be very difficult. The bases of the arms were probably removed for added flexibility of the "Arms". C) Unknown reasons of Valve. Do not question Valve. Bad things happen when you question Valve.
Advisors are the real combine race. Those soldiers, metrocops etc are just their experiments. I am the chronos, lord of the time. Rate me clocks.
Advisors are the real combine race. Those soldiers, metrocops etc are just their experiments.
We already know that.
The first one isn't hooked up to life support, the second one is. They evolved to the point where they can't survive long without eletronics helping them.
They didn't evolve to that point, it's just the EP2 advisor was rudely removed from the Combine equivalent of a womb.
Hmmm... I wonder if in EP3 we'll meet Advisor 314 URB-LOC 0017 again....
First one is baby 2nd is... Advisor...
Probably just an older advisor, you can tell by the darker wrinkles and larger muscles, and battle scars
I don't see the battle scars, but yeah.
Advisors are the real combine race. Those soldiers, metrocops etc are just their experiments.
Metrocops are humans working for the combine, they are not experiments.
Young - Old.
Both are the same in terms of command. Advisors are the extremely intelligent aliens that created the Combine Empire. They apparently have high command over the Empire, and appoint Combine officers and governors of conquered land/planets.

I think the "one's an old leader and the other is a baby" is probably right.
I think its also strange though that they both seem to have completley diferent functions Also Some other differences i noticed: Advisor Ep2 Advisor HL2
They're not the same age. [editline]06:19PM[/editline] Would you be surprised to see a 70 year old man fighting for America and firing his rifle at insurgents? Would you be equally surprised to see an 18 year old general?

They are different models. Derka derf. As in they redid the advisor for Episode 2. I thought you people knew this already.
