ORIGINAL POST:
Hello everyone. My mod Keys has just launched a new site along with a release date. Keys is being made by renowned interactive art developer Ryan Trawick in the hopes to finally finish a game. I hope you check it out and like what you see. Critics are calling it the swan song to Half-Life 2 modding. Big words I know. But I plan to deliver on them, now and later. Here's some pics!

Nice water you got there
Water's pretty, and that second screenshot has some interesting lighting, but other than that it all looks kinda meh, honestly.
Ohh, I like the looks of this!
Do tell us OP, what is it about?

Thanks for the support. Story wise let's say it's about finding a girl and rebuilding some things between the both of you. I wish I could say more but I want it to be a surprise. Gameplay wise it's mostly physical puzzles HL2 is known for, you have to pay close attention to your environment though.

Gotta put bricks on wood in a physics puzzle to build a relationship with Alyx

I must be missing the joke
I'm surprised he didn't post this screenshot off of his ModDB.

I keep thinking of "swan song" and wondering who the hell calls a mod that, critic or otherwise. Though I'll admit, I was hoping that if HL2 modding died it would go out on a high note. Frankly I'm quite disappointed.
Can you give any actually useful information regarding the mod? We haven't even gotten so much as a real genre, and the "Explaining the Design Goals" news post is just some artsy runaround claiming that you've already explained it and want to implement "symbolism of the arts." The presentation here is all really pretentious-sounding for something with not much to show.

I thought these pretentious student -_~art~_` mods for HL2 rightfully died as a thing years ago.

But Dear Esther only came out in 2012, and the linux port was 2013 for that matter.
Hello everyone. I want to straighten a few things out. No part of me believes this will be a huge success, it's not that good of a mod. I started it almost two years ago as a map pack that was passed between friends and I decided to force myself to finish it as I'd never finished anything. I think some people on Facepunch may be able to relate.
I'm just trying to have a friendly marketing campaign without taking it too seriously. There are a lot of pretentious undertones because this is sort of my joke take on artistic mods. As for genre it's simply a surreal game world with a neat story that's easy to figure out. It's under an hour long and most of the time you walk around and press buttons.
As for the "swan song" thing, it's a joke. I was referencing an article about the mod Water that referred to it as the swan song to HL2. It made me laugh then because HL2 modding is still pretty active.
If you've read this far thanks for your interest and I hope you check out the mod when it's released.
EDIT: By the way there's a whole album made for the mod by Logs From Borland. It's going to be free or pay what you want and will be released alongside the mod on Bandcamp. It sounds quite amazing and different from their previous album.
Looking forward to this, looking pretty good art-wise and you don't see too many mods with set release date :v:
I am your #1 fan Armageddon104.
Check out this cool, KEYSER, hahaha!

Next-gen tile textures sooper realism
Ah I see what you're doing with those textures, that's your "art-style" for the game, meaning you can half ass most of the textures.
Meh, I'll probably play it regardless of if it's any good if it's under 3 gigs and has a torrent download.
One more week 'til release.

Those dev textures really looked out of place.
But GODDAMNIT i fucking jumped and screamed so fucking loud at [sp]those 7 black doors and those black girls coming out of them. I went into one door and I only saw a pair of eyes coming towards me[/sp]
