The UBD creations are pretty good too.

i liked space the most but with how much your planets and shit are always bitching about space pirates, their ecology falling apart, and shit like that, youre really put off from exploring all that far. jesus fuck you idiots why cant you ever handle yourselves, we are in the space age ffs

Oh man, I need to make allies to progress, lets see what quests they have... "We want you to attack this guy, which will lead to war." I mean, at the beginning, it's hard to do that. Even worse was when you spawned on a planet with prebuilt planets, like I once started on mars. It made the first mission impossible because the crashed spaceship was underneath Earth's surface.

I loved this game all I did in the civilization stage was nuke everything

All the pre release footage looked so promising and then it turned from some fantastic and interesting world to something that resembled a kids show.

I made a bunch of mods for this game a while ago maybe I can find them again and post em here

I remember this game was so hyped it even got its own sub-forum here iirc. Too bad it was sort of a letdown, but I still played it quite a bit.

RIP underwater stage. Going from the cell stage to being on land seemed a little jarring. Also I recommend anyone who liked spore but wants something different but similar, go try out Shores of Hazeron. Its sort of like spore but a gigantic MMO where you start from dirt and build into a space-faring civilization. It also has ship interiors and two galaxies to play in. Pretty much once you get a starship you could in theory visit any star you can see on the map, and you can interact with any players you might find down to a first person level. Its basically still in alpha, but for an alpha it still is pretty impressive.

if EA hadn't given them harsh time restraints the game would probably be 1000x better than it is.

Spore was a great game until it was released.

I was surprised by the first half of this thread praising Spore. I remember spore being one of the biggest gaming letdowns I've ever experienced.

the creature creator is still amazing, though.

is Darkspore really so broken that it's unplayable?

I hope someone remakes Spore or a Spore-like game sometime in the future. This game would've been amazing if EA didn't rush Maxis to hell, I just know it. But keep the creature creator, it's fucking legit.

It's not so much broken as is we have a severe problem, Error 73003 denies a GRAND deal of people of playing the game.

If only the Spore we got was more like Spore circa e3 2005. Also, I'm really surprised that (as far as I know anyway) no one else has attempted to make another game in the same fashion as Spore. I have no doubt that if another company made a Spore clone but made sure to do everything right they'd be rolling in cash.

I liked the cell stage the most. Would play that over and over, gobbling little critters, and I loved how the big critters were in the background until you became as large as them.

I honestly only really enjoyed Cell Stage and Creature Stage, I thought Tribal and Civilization were decent but Space Stage was boring as fuck, it was alright when I got that Stick thing at the end that just spawns life onto a planet and then blowing said planet up for the fun of it, otherwise it was dog shit.
