What is E.Y.E? E.Y.E Divine Cybermancy is a cyberpunk FPSRPG created by Streum On Studios, and was released in July 2011. In it, you control a member of E.Y.E, a secretive and elite army of psi-cybernetic warrior monks founded, funded and ruled by a group of megacorporations named Secreta Secretorum. But really, it's just this [t]http://i.imgur.com/kaDgiFa.gif[/t] I decided to throw this thread together because I've played this game for quite a while (Have sunk right around 20 hours into it), and have gotta say that I absolutely love it, despite its flaws, and have never seen much discussion for it here on Facepunch. It's unpolished, has perhaps the most convoluted story I've ever experienced in a game, suffers from poor translation, and doesn't bother to explain some very important mechanics at the start, but the gameplay is incredibly solid, with a very well-crafted cyberpunk setting, and a multitude of powers to play around with. Here's a decent guide some may find helpful to get started So, who else around here has played this game, and what'd you think of it? I know lots of people aren't fans of it for how unpolished it is, but I think it really sticks out as a game for the things it does right.
Third time or so this thread pops up again Wondering how many resurrectors are left. Seems like we're clear of fatal wounds for now
what the fuck am I doing, the game
I'm fairly sure the real game is figuring out what the fuck is happening at any given time Also, the run-and-gun mechanics remind me a lot of the first Timesplitters
Not sure if spoiler or not, but I'll do it anyway: [sp]Is this the game where your player character is actually trapped in their own mind (or at least that's heavily implied) and eventually you get to a point in the game where you can trap other people in their minds, leading to a mind-inception thing?[/sp]

The only two things that I know what I'm doing on this game are shooting and hacking (I think).

I believe this is the only game where not only can an ATM issue a counter hack if you fail at hacking it, but it can also outright kill you. THAT alone has to count for something to those on the fence. I gotta pick this back up. I bought it last year for like $1.25, but burnt myself out from playing it nearly non stop.
The first run I played of EYE I cooped through it with 3 friends and none of us had any idea what we were doing. It was amazing.
I keep wanting to get this game during the Steam sales but I keep just missing it
Sunk 40 hours into this in one playthrough and still feel like replaying it, it's a great game.
I remember starting well in the game "It's a RPG game, well time to spend sometimes seeing what thing does what." The intro was a bit confusing but it was fun shoot to things "Hmm, I guess while I advance everything will come clear"... And well, I was really wrong, still I had too much fun with it. So...Sequel, when? Now?... Please?
67 Hours in and i still didn't get the rift hammer, i should feel bad.
So...Sequel, when? Now?... Please?
The devs are working on a WH40k game at the moment (Deathwing?) so not any time soon, sadly.
any short video explaining what is up with this game? how does the RPG elements work? is it like dark souls with predefined weapons that scale with leveling? or Borderlands with its level based guns? Dues ex like? I've not a clue on what the game is, I just see it occasionally but never actually look at it.
Got this in the flash sale, took a while to figure out what the fuck was going on but it's pretty fun. Most of the guns suck though.

Stat points are earned and manually allocated each level. The important stats like accuracy and hacking as examples scale with leveling, then you've "cybertech" which are components of your character that you can upgrade for money - upgrading your brain will further increase the hacking and medicine skills without using stat points, and will also have some effects on some skills as well. I'd describe this game as a mix of pre-Steam Synergy and Smod Tactical's core gameplay, with Deus ex-ish RPG elements. It feels very much like a Source mod which is both good and bad, but the game really isn't as complex as it's made out to be. It's sort of like riding a bike, once you get the basics down and the ball rolling, everything else eventually falls into place and you won't really forget how to play it. I'll see if I can find some useful videos or something later on and edit them into this post. IIRC there's one weapon for each of those categories that vastly outshines the rest of them, there's a pistol that'll do damage rivaling a heavy sniper rifle. Also to anyone starting the game, as soon as you get to one of those equipment box things, put on some medium or heavy armor. You will die much, much less and will be able to actually be in firefights longer and more effectively.

Oh, and this mod is great. Makes everything more understandable.

The RPG elements in E.Y.E really aren't based too much on what you pick for stats, but rather how you actually play the game. My first playthrough I just played as a standard shooter, with assault rifles and SMGs with medium armor, while my next was something of a lightweight ninja with a katana and dual-pistols, and they were both equally satisfying. With weapons, you're pretty much given everything at the start. There's a good starting number of weapons of various types (katanas, snipers, a minigun etc.), and you can use any of them regardless of your stats. There are some better weapons you can purchase, however, but they actually have stat requirements for purchasing them.

Yeah.. I really wanted to get into this game but no matter how interesting the actual story was the gameplay was really primitive. It was about 45 minutes in, during a mission that I had no idea how to complete, when I cleared an entire level of badguys by standing in the same spot and shooting NPCs as they ran at me in the same robotic path, all single-file. I'm a real sucker for atmosphere, but mechanically it is a terrible game. I would definitely pick up the book if it was published, though.
Guess I'll look more into it then is there such a thing as a "Purest support character" in this? how does multiplayer work if there is any?
The game isn't too teamwork oriented so there aren't really any big "set in stone" roles to fulfill, you pretty much just do whatever you can to make yourself most effective. Healing is heinously under-done and being able to hack competently is also a very useful thing to do if you're playing with a group and want to be supportive. Though you won't really have to specialize to be able to do either of those things effectively. Multiplayer is handled like any other source game in that you can just drop in and out, though what is interesting is that you can progress through the storyline of whoever the game's "plot host" is set to. If I hosted a server, and I wanted to play through with a friend, he'd join me in the level the server starts on, then he'd talk to an NPC, and we'd start playing from wherever his progress was, so it's not restricted to the host. I feel like coop is best with 2-4 people when it comes to pacing, but I've been in games with as many as 24 people and it's just as bananas as it sounds. I had fun with it.

I seriously played most of the campaign without having the medkit unlocked because I had no idea what I was doing. [editline]25th June 2014[/editline] And yes, that means my character is riddled with fatal wounds I still can't research the cure for yet.
One thing's for certain about this game. I want the RPG book.
Man this game really doesn't explain alot. Ive played it for a fair amount of time, its just hard as fuck when you have no clue what your doing.
One thing's for certain about this game. I want the RPG book.
I can just see it. 300 pages, all of them in EYE Speak (aka, terribly translated).
