• PC games for my non-gamer family?
    17 replies, posted
My family often gets weirded out by me for spending so much time on the computer and espacially on video games, and this kind of creates distance between us. I'd like to introduce that world to them so maybe they would be able to understand my passion and maybe even get them to like it! Since they never played any video game, I wanted a game with a good, easy to understand plot and almost no skill demanding gameplay. I don't have a console so I was really focusing on PC games The first games that came up to my head were my favorite games: Half Life, Bioshock, Outlast and Braid You can probably understand why I didn't choose these games - they're hard, have complicated plots and pretty violent (minus Braid). I want a game that can really introduce the video game world without including violence.. I know it sounds pretty lame but imagine playing a video game for the first time and blowing someone's head off and making it squirt blood. I would love any suggestions for PC games that meet those criteria :) Thanks in advanced to everyone! (User was banned for this post ("Post yours belong in fast threads" - Orkel))
The Sims maybe?
Personally I'd still go with violence, chances are their used to it on T.V or something?

But yeah, casual stuff like Little Inferno, World of Goo, maybe even Peggle would be good to start them on.
in all seriousness though, 90% of platformers on steam. Rouge Legacy is frustrating yet fun. Blockland is great for kids. Its a great building game, especially for lan. Gorillian game modes, all pretty good. Minecraft of course. portal 1/2
rythm games
dark souls

I got my grandmother really into Plants vs. Zombies. She actually beat it before I did. If they can understand first person games (how they work, controls, etc) then there's Portal.
I'd say Plant's vs Zombies is a great choice. Also Bit.trip runner is a good one too since it is addicting and pretty simple

Ooh, FRACT OSC would be a great game too The visuals are amazing
Super Mario Kaizo
Serious business, The Sims and Diner Dash.
