Need help with the "Card of authenticity" and "NFC". League of legends Merch store.

So i bought the figures that you can buy from the official league of legends merch store, and i got something called "Card of authenticity" with it. I have never heard of this, and dont know what it is. It mentions something called "NFC", and i dont know what it is, i've googled it, and havent found out anything. I live in denmark, and i dont thing we use the "NFC".... Can anyone please tell me what the use for it is.
