Rom Corruption - Editing hex values of a ROM to make for more 'interesting' game play. It works on most ROMs and most emulators as long as the hex values aren't too fucked up.

I will also be uploading some videos of ROM corruptions soon, so i'll add one or two of those videos to this post.
Tutorial:
If you want to get started, check out this tutorial IncomingNumbers5642 of the vinesauce forums wrote (written for the corrupter program but i'm sure you can figure it out for any of the corruption programs i posted above):
1. Download and unzip the required files
2. Run the corrupt.exe (if you get a security warning, don't worry about it)
3. Fill in the three topmost fields with where you downloaded the files to, the emulator, and the rom in that order.
4. Set start to a value between 1000 and F000
5. Set end to a huge number, then find the actual end of file from the prompt
6. Select Every ____th Bytes and put in a number somewhere between the low 500s and the high 3000s
7. Select Add ____ To Bytes and put in the value 2
8. Press Go and play!
9. Mess with either Start, Every ____th Byte, Add ____ To Bytes, or Shift Right _____ bytes to search for corruptions
Have fun, and post your stuff in the comments!
What I learned from this is when Aladdin breaks, Aladdin really breaks.
This shit right here.

Vinesauce videos are great. Thanks for sharing, i've never seen this one.
i can't see all of Amatoxen ROM F**ker, and i need help
This thread never lived, although it's a shame it didn't. I don't do anything to ROM hacks/corruptions related but the results are fucking hilarious.
Meanwhile, my sides have entered the orbit.

Screwing around with the corruptor with mostly crap results and then the music got funky.

Sounds like half of the sound channels suddenly drop halfway through. Checked it in audacity, and you can really see where everything went to hell.

For the record, it's meant to sound like this:

Guys, something real creepy is happening...

Launched into Link's Awakening (Corrupted with the vinesauce thing, range DECD to 7FFFF, every 1540th byte, shift right one byte, enable jam protection) and everyone is gone.
Everything is gone. The houses lie empty. The shop is deserted. The beach is bare... not a single monster, animal, human, or even the Sword remain.
The music is... completely screwed up...
Even the library is bare of books, and there's no telephone in the hint shack. What do?
EDIT:
I'm going to restart and see if it still does it... and I'm going to record it.

I corrupted Metal Gear: Ghost Babel/Metal Gear Solid on the GBC and Campbell's face got stuck on the screen even after the codec had ended. Needless to say, playing was quite difficult.
Oh, and anyone who wants to try it themselves...

It's part of the game.

I'd recommend you play it, in terms of fun it's one of my top three favourite Zelda games. Although I suppose that could just be rose-tinted glasses on my part...
Huh, I actually never knew that. That's actually really quite interesting... although it is still strange that it popped up for a second when he brought up the map and poof it was gone

I did this with DuckTales a while back. It can get really ridiculous when you get the right values.
