• Dota 2 is becoming complete and utter shit

Every time i launch dota 2 and start finding a match i stop after 1-2 min, because every single time i get matched with the most unfriendly team you could find. My problem isn't about how good you play, i sweat i can play a match where we are losing but with friendly team mates and have fun, in the other hand i can't enjoy a match that i am winning with some rude assholes. I know i can mute them but still i lose 1 teammate, he will never help or heal me or even warn me about incoming enemies. however, is there anyway to fix the toxic dota 2 community ? because I'm really considering moving to LOL.
Can't you get reported in LoL for not following the current meta? Also, I can see where you are coming from. I much prefer to party, but when I do solo, people can be awful, but in a lot of cases, they aren't. I think first impressions are important on your team, like asking what people want to do and starting team work right from the hero selection.
This is mostly the reason why I just play Defense of the Ancients rather than DOTA2. At least there, they are cordial and will explain why they are pissed off and cool off quickly. It seems that League of Legends and DOTA2 bring out the worst in everybody. Really the only surefire way to have a good experience is to play with people you already know, as there is no real way to 'fix' a gaming community with such wide scope.
I'm really considering moving to LOL.
You won't have much better luck with LoL's community. You're always going to meet a lot of shit talkers and generally rude people, it happens in a lot of gaming communities. The only thing you can do about is ignore them and get over it, don't let random fucks you meet online ruin a game for you.
Fixing the defense of the ancients community is harder than fixing the rust community [editline]31st July 2014[/editline]
The only thing you can do about is ignore them and get over it, don't let random fucks you meet online ruin a game for you.
The main issue though is that there are so many of them
The main issue though is that there are so many of them
And there always will be sadly, it's just something you come to expect with most games. Nevertheless you shouldn't let them keep you from enjoying a game, because in the end their opinions/attitudes don't really matter.
You just can't play alone. I don't play football with a bunch of random people I meet on the street. I can't bare the thought of playing with random people with little to no teamwork, and have internationally queued on servers they can't event speak the language of.

I'm not good at advice, but you could do a 5stack, or just stop giving a shit about what people say. But trust me, League is not any better. Heck, it's worse.
You can't "fix" people. Also in league you get banned for saying "ez game," or "rubbing it in the enemy's faces when you win." I remember one of the official statements saying something about not saying gg until the losing team says it first. They're just stupid things trying to tell people how to speak, but you can't control loudmouths on the internet. If you don't want to gamble with finding mean or rude players, add people who were cool or nice in your matches and stack with them. And think before you add someone because there's some players who only act nice when they're winning and are total fucks when losing, or will even intentionally feed when losing slightly. I remember my friend added this guy who was pretty funny, and he invited me to a stack with him, then that match the guy took off his tranquils while jungling as Axe to abuse some bug, then a roaming Bounty Hunter stole his tranquils when he had them on the ground, and the guy blamed us for not calling missing on him... He then proceeded to just keep running into our jungle and feeding the enemy team instead of just abandoning if he was that butthurt. Needless to say, I reported the guy and never played with him again, dunno about my friend.
I heard it's a problem with the MOBA genre in particular Personally, I have been playing some MMORPGs (which have also a reputation to hold very nast and self-centered communities) and usually go to several multiplayer games, but I've never seen a common playerbase so full of bullshit, honestly Many suggest going on a five stack or playing with your friends only, but it's something I can't do on a good basis (my university study keeps me very busy and my Steam friends are usually on the other side of the ocean) I also thought about playing all my matches by muting all the other players but me, however, I never followed suit because, despite what many believe, in such games comunication with your team mates is often important and, personally, I fear I may mute the few people that make playing Dota 2 a bit entertaining, even in losing a match Oh yes, and the Valve system of players self-evaluation doesn't do shit and it only works in games like Team Fortress 2 because there are a lot of players on the tabel
Valve's always experimenting with new methods (like the relatively new teammate evaluation questions) to punish abusive players and make them feel more responsible despite their pseudonymity and low chance to get rematched with people they've insulted, but researching anti-toxicity measurements to combat the notoriously bad mannered playerbase of competitive multiplayer games in general and that of MOBAs especially is still a relatively recent endeavor. For you personally really the only ways of improving your environment is to either stack with friendly people you know, mute nasty cases or use by default use the Mute All Chat checkbox (which actually mutes all chat, not "allchat"). There's some other methods like only playing with bots or being "aggressive" with a positive attitude so the vocal minority doesn't become the majority of text/voice messages that will infect your team's attitude, but obviously these are much more situational. Either way, kind of a misleading thread title. Perhaps you've perceived increased toxicity as climbing the ladder usually means you'll be meeting more people that are heavily invested in the game and really care about winning it, and can detect and call out a lot more mistakes, but that's not the same as the game's community as a whole becoming worse. Also, I've only played a little League ages ago, but my friend that quit it did it because the community is not only as toxic as its reputation, it's also way more report-happy (for when you don't follow the meta's exactly item and skill build for example). All that said, I'm not trying to tether you to Dota or anything. If you can't have fun with something you want to play for fun, it's IMO silly to force yourself to keep playing it because of way less important reasons like "eh but I've already invested so much time/money into it" or "but it's that game everyone's talking about".
It's just a phase. You'll get a "nice teammates" scenario soon.
You either like Dota and keep playing it or you don't like Dota and you stop. Pick one. No one has a gun to your head to keep forcing you into playing.
Lol op, I bet you're that guy on my team that has the wrong items,no ultimate and the most deaths. Uninstall applies here.
You can't do anything about it. Either get over it, mute and play or you can uninstall and enjoy the slightly less toxic yet 10x worse LoL.

Excuse me but I have been told to die from cancer and get my family burnt in my house for picking a "not viable" champion. Several times (not cancer but death threats and all that stuff). This has NEVER happened to me in Dota 2 in my goddamn 2560 hours of play. Mind you.

In Dota, people have the entire game to harass and annoy you, but if you're smart, you mute someone the moment they start insulting you, as they've already lost all their credibility.

Can we just stop fucking using the word "toxic"?

I can't say I really disagree, I get 4 decent/friendly (just one not both) teammates in one out of ten matches but because Dota is like heroin I can't leave it either.
Can we just stop fucking using the word "toxic"?
Would venomous be better, I can't remember which one is the ingestion adjective. Either way it fits
Here's an example from above EDIT: I'm curious ... how the concede thing works in LoL, exactly?
at any time after 20 minutes you can start a surrender vote, and if 4 or more people vote yes it goes through. if it fails you can't start one for another 3 minutes
Would venomous be better, I can't remember which one is the ingestion adjective. Either way it fits
if you bite it and die, its poisonous, if it bites you and you die, its venomous.
Lose like a man , surrender are for little girls who can't act in a situation that is probably turnable with certain coordenation
Nah. if a game is going completely down hill, sometimes I just want to quit but without abandoning. So I want them to make a system so that you can surrender, but only if all 5 on a team agrees or something.
