Dino D-Day is a Source engine based game developed and published by 800 North and Digital Ranch and set for release on Steam on March 29. As the name implies, the game is a multiplayer WWII shooter, but with one shocking twist: the Axis have access to an army of dinosaurs. The closed beta is currently going on, and from my experiences with it, I have to say that it's pretty good.
The year is 1942
Adolf Hitler has succeeded in resurrecting dinosaurs. The reptilian horde has trampled Europe and the Mediterranean. Can nothing stop the Nazi’s dinosaur army?
Dino D-Day is a frantic, action-packed multiplayer game that will transport you to a World War II that should have been. You and your friends will battle online choosing to serve the cause of the Allied nations or Adolf Hitler. The Allied side includes six playable characters each with unique weapons and abilities to use in combat. Gun down a Dilophosaur with your trusty M1 Garand, blast a kamikaze pterosaur out of the sky with your Thompson sub-machine gun, toss out a dead jack rabbit to lure a raptor into a trap.
As an Axis player you will have your choice of three human classes and three dinosaur classes. Ambush your enemy with speed and stealth as the Raptor, mercilessly pound the enemy with the Desmatosuchus’ heavy 20mm gun, rampage through enemy groups as the Dilophosaur, pick up a body and throw it at an enemy for a double kill! The German soldier classes are the perfect complement to their dinosaur comrades.
You’ve played World War II games before…but have you played a World War II game with dinosaurs?

Class Abilities
Pterosaurs:
Karl Hissmann (the Axis sniper) has the ability to summon kamikaze pterosaurs to designated locations on the map.
Artillery:
Joe Spencer has the ability to call in artillery strikes to a given point on the map. He is only allowed one artillery strike once per life.
Healing:
There are medics on the Axis and Allied side both. For the Allies, Camille Brun has this special ability. For the Axis, Wolfgang von Graff has this ability.
At any time these characters can approach another player, press the special ability key (default 'e') and begin healing them. Heal duration varies based on how injured the patient is. Von Graff can heal both humans and dinosaurs (using his knowledge of combat and veterinary medicine).
Beserk:
After scoring 3 kills in one life, Jack Hardgrave will be filled to the brim with patriotic fervor. Through years of careful study and discipline, he has learned how to harness this incredible power.
On command, he can go berserk by pressing the special attack key (default 'e'). While berserk Hardgrave fights only with his fists - which pack massive damage. He can kill almost anything with one punch and send them soaring into the heavens. Speed is increased allowing him to chase down the enemy and punch them into oblivion. Damage is greatly reduced, making him nearly invulnerable.
Rabbits:
Ilona Vike carries a single dead jackrabbit in her grenade slot. To a Velociraptor, this jackrabbit is a treat so irresistable he simply must let his animal instincts take over.

Velociraptor
The raptor is played in first person view. You will immediately find that the raptor is much faster than any other class. It can also leap very high.
The raptor has only one weapon: its claws. Players can claw and scratch the enemy by pressing the primary attack key (default is Mouse-1). But in addition to this, players can also try to land a 'pounce.' To accomplish this, jump at your enemy, aim the crosshair on them, and press the secondary attack key (default Mouse-2). If you've been in the air long enough, you'll pounce your unfortunate victim and tear them apart.
The raptor is also able to pull off a 'super-jump' by pressing Crouch (default is the CTRL key) and then jumping (the Space bar). With a running start you should be able to jump into a second floor balcony.
Avoid direct assaults, use your speed and size. Find clever angles to attack your unsuspecting prey. Remember...you're an ambush predator!
Desmatosuchus
The Desmatosuchus can be likened to a walking tank. The Nazis have fitted a large anti-aircraft gun to his back and wired the firing mechanism to the aninal's brain.
As the Desmatosuchus you will take greatly reduced damage from bullets thanks to a very thick hide and even thicker armor plating on your back. Anti-tank weapons are the only way to take down a Desmatosuchus efficiently.
If enemies get in close, or you are out of ammo, the Desmatosuchus can also retaliate with a melee attack. Press secondary attack (default is Mouse-2) to use your shoulder spikes or tail to knock an enemy back and deal damage. The Desmatosuchus will sense where the enemy is and use an appropriate attack (i.e. the shoulders or the tail) to hit the enemy.
The Desmatosuchus is the slowest class. Work with teammates to clear out an objective and ensure you don't get isolated. Your gun does a great deal of splash damage, use this to your advantage!
Dilophosaur
Though not as fast as a raptor the Dilophosaur is still faster than any human class. Bullets do decreased damage due to its thick hide.
The Dilophosaur can use his claws to melee attack an enemy. Press the primary attack key (default is Mouse-1) for this.
When sprinting (run while holding SHIFT) press primary attack to knock an enemy down with a head butt. While on the ground pick them up in your jaws by pressing secondary attack (default is Mouse-2). Now turn your victim into a lethal weapon by throwing them! Press primary attack when they're in your mouth.
The Dilophosaur can also pick up goats in its jaws. To pick up a goat just stand over it and press secondary attack (default Mouse-2). Use goats as deadly missiles just like human victims - just press primary attack when a goat is in your jaws.
Take goats into battle, throw one to cause confusion then attack directly!
The devs plan on adding new content to the game in regular updates after the game releases.
We have plans in place to continue developing Dino D-Day and the Dino D-Day community after the game’s initial release. We plan on developing an entire singleplayer/co-op campaign that we will ship around this time next year. This will be more story-driven gameplay that will further develop the world of Dino D-Day and will even have interesting effects on the multiplayer experience! In addition to that there will be regular updates of the multiplayer game and perhaps a few other surprises in store as well!

Lots of good looking dinosaur games coming out.
I'm ok with that.
Concept sounds neat, but the entire game looks poorly executed.
I'm in the beta, and I have to say that the game is very well executed.
Looks like it could kill a few days, but I don't see a whole lot of variety and staying power with it. But that's just at first glance, I haven't read much into it.
Why haven't I known about this before? This looks amazing, and it comes out in 24 days. Everyone here should be excited.
This looks like a lot of fun.
Only thing that bugs me are animations, otherwise looks badass.
This is actually a unique style of game, I don't think I have ever came across an Nazi-Dino game.
So, how much is this going to cost? I can probably set aside a few bucks for this.
I miss when this was going to have a campaign.
I sure hope that the default HL2 sounds are long gone in the full game.
[editline]5th March 2011[/editline]
No offense to anyone, but I am pretty freaking sick of hearing the same sounds for 7 years.

20 dollars.

Don't worry, they're not that noticeable.
I miss when this was going to have a campaign.
A full singleplayer campaign and coop will be released around this time next year; new free content will be added, too, but we probably won't have to wait that long for that.
Holy fuck that looks kickass
Holy shit! Goat missiles!
This game is a Historian's nightmare.
This, Primal Carnage...Man Dino games are everywhere...It is awesome
20 dollars.

20 dollars is a lot for a source game and I'd expect new sounds and animations, it just seems lazy without, I don't think I will be purchasing this.
So when will I have a game where I can mount a T-Rex?
I might purchase it, if the price is lowered a little bit and a campaign is added.
It better be worth the 20 dollars, this means it'll probably be 20 euros too because all currencies have the same value :downs:
So when will I have a game where I can mount a T-Rex?
Gross
I was actually accepted into the beta for this thanks to a friendly fellow on this forum, the game isn't that great. It feels like just another source engine game.
Seriously somebody could have made this in garrys mod and nobody would have noticed a difference
Looks pretty good, there aren't a lot of shooters with dinosaurs that are actually fun to play (that I know of), so this might be interesting.
I'm a bit tired of the source engine though the concept sounds awesome!
There aren't enough dinosaur games.
There aren't enough dinosaur games.
This so much. I want dinosaurs horror/survival games, dinosaurs are the scariest creature I know of.
20 dollars is a lot for a source game and I'd expect new sounds and animations, it just seems lazy without, I don't think I will be purchasing this.
There are a ton of new sounds and animations. :downs: Most of the Source sounds are just sounds when walking on different surfaces and when hitting things. (walls, etc.) That's it. I don't see why the developers should go to the trouble to replace those basic sounds.
But one of those dino's sounded like a fast headcrab, and punching had the crowbar swing sound.
Stop comparing the mod to the beta, guys. The game is lightyears ahead of it.
Nazi's got bored of jews I see.
