A trailer for this was released a few months ago and recently it got a Kickstarter Campaign. It's looks really interesting and it's a unique idea, hopefully it gets funded. Kickstarter page: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2049430629/flagship-space-strategy-from-a-first-person-perspe Flagship is a First-person Space RTS currently in development for PC by Urban Logic Games. You take the role of a fleet commander shortly after humanity first ventured out into the stars, attempting to rebuild after being defeated by an Alien race and the loss of the Sol system. You have to build up a new fleet and take command of it, and it's done from the first person perspective. You give orders to other ships in your fleet from the bridge of your flagship, or you can take control of any other ship in your fleet and give orders from there which includes fighters and other ships. The key features are:
Key Features Native Oculus Rift support Build and command your fleet from the bridge of your flagship A massive, procedurally generated galaxy full of systems to colonise Non-linear single player Fully explorable starship Ships in your fleet gain experience
The developers have mentioned Multiplayer and Mod support are possiblities for after the game is launched. Whoa, if this gets pulled off right it will be one of my dream games.
Not gonna lie, looks pretty rad.
Hop in the rift and become a space fleet commander? just tell me which direction to throw my money
Looks super good!
This is also something that star citizen is trying to do, minus the whole colonizing aspect. It certainly looks fun, though.
This is also something that star citizen is trying to do, minus the whole colonizing aspect. It certainly looks fun, though.
It's not really, though. Star Citizen doesn't have any RTS elements and you don't get control over anything other than your own ship. There are some similarities such as the first person perspective and things like having to sort out the damage on your ship, but this is a completely different game.
Kickstarter's been cancelled. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2049430629/flagship-space-strategy-from-a-first-person-perspe/posts/1014652

The tracker hornet is actually a ship that's suppose to fulfill this role on a smaller scale for example. NPC's don't have free will and have to obey your orders though so I guess that's one major difference. [editline]11th October 2014[/editline] I guess its a real shame that its canned far less deserving games *cough* human resources have made that much money.

The game itself looked great, but i think they did a few things wrong with their Kickstarter. They didn't show any proper gameplay of the RTS parts, they put the tier prices way too high and didn't give include many rewards with them, In-game rewards for backers were only added half way through the campaign and only if you pledged a certain amount, Stretch goals were going to be added when they got closer to them instead of being there all along to give more reason to back it, not enough updates or videos showing the game etc. It's like they put in on Kickstarter and then decided to start thinking about those things, instead of having it planned already. I really do like the idea of the game though and i'm glad they aren't giving up on it. It's a unique idea that hasn't really been done before and what they had showed of the game looked great, i think they just didn't manage the Kickstarter well enough to get enough people fully interested in it despite the idea. I saw a few people saying they would just wait until the game is released.
Actually being a fleet commander is one of the main features of the game if you drink the kool aid. Wait, so they're still going to carry one with the game development, yes?
This game has so much potential, hope to see it released one day.
Wait, so they're still going to carry one with the game development, yes?
They've said they aren't to give up on the game but they haven't said what they are going to do now.
