What is Call of Combat?
Call of Combat is an upcoming MOBA-esque WW2 game.
Each player orders a squad of 4 soldiers through typical battlefields of World War 2. Players team up and engage combat in large organized battles. The most seasoned combatant of each team has the role of coordinating the team’s actions through the commanders interface, simultaneously serving as a tactical overview of the battle. It is through the leader’s strategic guidance and combined effort that victory is achieved!
History
Call of Combat was originally a fan made game based on another game called "Chain of Command" Now the folks at KAVA have been working on an updated version of the game with more modern graphics and mechanics. Some of you may have played the original at some point.
This Kickstarter projects aims to reinvent two small cult classics: Chain of Command (1999) and the original Call of Combat (2002); to which the latter was a student hobby project by Florian Käding (co-founder KAVA). Although it was at that time never marketed or advertised, it gained strong popularity among a very loyal and supportive community; which is still active today. For over 10 years, the servers were always active and since rankings were implemented over one million games were played; thousands of players active in both casual and competitive scenes. Keeping the classic game, with its old code-base, running proved an uphill battle thus after 10 years it was decided that a more contemporary revision of Call of Combat was required.
Gameplay
Gameplay wise each player controls 4 soldiers in a RTS/MOBA fashion. You can select each soldier and give them somewhere to go or shoot etc.

The folks at KAVA have just released a Kickstarter to gain support to further the development of the game.
I personally worked on this game helping out with some of the art assets, and these people are really nice and haven't got tons of resources at the moment. So if you are interested in a WW2 game I would give it a go, and if you like what you play and see I would recommend backing.

And into the trash.
Gameplay reminds me of Close Combat from 1996.
They need a rename, pronto. "Call of" is only going to remind people of Call of Duty. Plus, the abbreviation is CoC.

Hey, I too judge video games on their genre and not by their actual, potentially different gameplay!
It's the same reason I don't listen to rap because obviously all rap is garbage and there's no such thing as good rap, right?
Looks very cool. I love strategy and tactics games so I'll keep this on my radar.

MOBA was probably the wrong word to use... But most multiplayer RTS games these days end up being categorised as a MOBA.
mite b cool
Although I'm a little disappointed that they've gone with the most generic possible name for it. :v:

Should have gone with "Call of Order: Company of Brothers, Opposing Western Offensive. Looks vaguely interesting but i'm not sold on it, and the hud looks pretty cheap.
Order of the Calls of Honor and Brotherhood: World War Two

The visuals remind me of Company of Heroes quite a bit.
So is this like Empires but more tactical?

it's in pre-alpha
is this a close combat style game or what? i guess i don't follow what it's supposed to be. close combat with more micromanagement?

What if I don't like the whole entire genre?
I haven't seen a fun game that had "MOBA" in it.
it's not a moba because you control more than one unit and you don't fight mob enemies or blow up towers or whatever. looks like you just control a squad of infantry and you blow up the enemy
Interesting. This really does remind me of the original Close Combat which I used to play religiously. I've never heard of this series or the original "cult classic" so I'm going to keep an eye out on this one.
Just a reminder that you can play it right now without backing. I know the developers would be interested to see everyone's views on it
Huh. I was expecting a mobile Call of Duty Knockoff.

I was thinking Close Combat mixed with Brothers in Arms. Really liked both, but as a MOBA? Ehhh

Watch the gameplay it's not a MOBA. It's more like some kind of squad-based RTS.
Might want to edit the OP so that it doesn't give people the wrong idea.
Little late for that.
Probably the worst name for any video game I've ever heard
Seriously, it sounds like one of those free-to-play games you see fucking awful commercials for on TV
