They are here to stay fellas, the three goblins who love to blow shit up are now available to play around with. All you have to do is spectate the ti4 all star match and select "takeover" once you are watching the game.
It might help to note that the replay has been removed from the TI4 international watchlist. [editline]22nd July 2014[/editline] Uploaded it for convenience sake, although it won't be long until they're officially available to be used.
It's removed from the International watchlist, but you can still download the Replay. Go to Watch > Recent Games, then put 'Techies' in the hero filter and tick the box 'Tournament'. It's in the list.
Does anyone have any info on the official release of techies ?
Whats the best way to counter-pick techies? Just for a heads up for the inevitable influx of mines. I know of Zeus (revealing mines with W)

His bombs are really colorful.. [editline]24th July 2014[/editline] It's not out in the main client yet, right?

-snip, I'm dumb-
Once you buy gem techies is useless
Once you buy gem techies is useless
so you better not die, and if you do, hope they don't get the gem
techies are useless without gems, composite damage falls the fuck off past 10-15 minutes
techies are useless without gems, composite damage falls the fuck off past 10-15 minutes
Wait.. what? How does having 'gems' help with composite damage falling off towards the late game?
The point is that after a certain amount of time, most people will have enough armor + mag res to simply walk over his land mines and give little fucks due to how poorly composite damage scales. It's not like an attentive Techies player won't notice his mines being disarmed by the enemy team with a gem either, so it's kind of wasted gold by that point.

techies is the hard counter to ursa you plant remote mines in the rosh pit and when Roshan is 1 hit away from dying you detonate them all and steal aegis or if you're not close enough to do that, just detonate them right after he gets the aegis or just after he walks into the pit in the first place
Once you buy gem techies is useless
Once everyone on your team buys a gem and reached infinite health techies is useless.

Buy blademail and walk over the mines.
Buy blademail and walk over the mines.
Mutually assured destruction unless you have more than one person walking across only a few of the mines.
Mutually assured destruction unless you have more than one person walking across only a few of the mines.
Get a tanky crew. Does it really return the damage? I hope it works more like an individual unit dealing its own instance instead than Techies
Get a tanky crew. Does it really return the damage? DotA has blademail return damage upon techies for the mines so it's most likely to stay that way in dota 2. Of course there are still ways to counter getting all your mines stepped on, especially in a warded spot. Teammates like OD, Shadow demon, and of course eul's scepter help. Good luck farming up BKB on techies unless you constantly mine up the enemy jungle. Oh did you also know the techies mines can block camp spawns? That's my favorite part.

Thats fantastic, the jungle is a playground for this fucker. Anyways I hope the blademail part gets removed, it kinda kills the only joy you can have.
Better yet, after finding a mine cluster as Nyx, pop spiked carapace and walk in.
Better yet, after finding a mine cluster as Nyx, pop spiked carapace and walk in.
That only reflects the first mine damage instance, not all of them.
Oh, true. I don't know how simultaneous explosions would work if you were to blink into the middle of them.
Just pick Pugna or get a Ghost Scepter. Ethereal units aren't affected by mines.
They look no fun atall.
Just pick Pugna or get a Ghost Scepter. Ethereal units aren't affected by mines.
Remote mines will do damage to ethereal targets afaik.
