Hey there!
This is the quake MegaThread for all things quake. I'll go through all the games for those that don't know. Lets delve into Quake!
Quake 1 (1996)

The first of many, this FPS was very unique at the time and is still played a lot today.

As far as i'm aware, you can only get a digital copy from Steam.
Buy it Here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/2310
Quake 2 (1997)

The second game in the quake series, which was extremely highly regarded and it was the most popular online game for 1998.

Now you must fight your way through heavily fortified military installations, lower the city's defenses and shut down the enemy's war machine. Only then will the fate of humanity be known.

Ahh, the big one. This one was wildly popular and is extremely well regarded in gaming.
The community has died down now due to another game I will talk about soon.
The Games Description
Welcome to the Arena, where high-ranking warriors are transformed into spineless mush.
Abandoning every ounce of common sense and any trace of doubt, you lunge onto a stage of harrowing landscapes and veiled abysses.

Bet you never heard of this one.
The console ports were absolutely awful, and shouldn't be played. Get the PC version.
The Games Description

Like Quake 3 Arena but hate that no-one is playing it?
This is for you. It is a F2P version of quake 3 arena, but with no BS pay to win most F2P games have.
It has an active community and lots of maps.

See anything wrong in the OP? Tell me!
Now, get to fragging!
no OP is complete without Urban Terror and OpenArena
What about Quake IV and all that?
Coincidentally, I have a raging fetish for strogg Tech
What about Quake IV and all that?
whoops, my mistake. Adding in now.
Would you mind linking me to it? I cant find it. If its a spinoff or expansion i'm not listing it.
Why do people hate on Quake 4?
I love Quake, if there's ever a facepunch server up in any of the quake games let me know on steam. I'd gladly join

wait what
what the hell did they mean by quake iv then
Quake 5 better be a Quake 1 remake.
Also Quake has more than brown castles! There are also grey and blue ones!
Quake II is fucking beautiful oh god this game.
Anyone know of any source ports that like the two mission packs for Quake 2? And what is the best source port anyways? I used Quake 2 Evolved and thought it was nice.
Anyone playing quake live, add me. Dizzy42.
I remember trying to play Quake 2 in the heart of an Australian summer on a Pentium 2 266mhz. I could usually get about 20 minutes of solid stroggicide in before my beige beast overheated.
Then one day I got a Voodoo 2 12MB and everything changed. By everything, I just mean coloured lighting.
the only problem with quake live is that you have to pay to play pql (ql's version of cpma)
Armagon was a really dissapointing boss fight. He did literally nothing while I unloaded on him.
Knew I'd get a response like this :v:
Regardless of race, creed and religion, everyone loves a double entendre.
I still play Quake a lot. It's just so much fun.
I really want Quake 5 to be lovecraft-based like Quake 1 was.
Here's screenshots of a single player map I've been working on for a while

What source port are you using?
DirectQ
Those first three images give off some Q2 vibes.
That's what I was going for somewhat (I also used some Q2 textures)
I find it's quite easy to look like Q2 if you just litter your level with yellow and orange lighting.
Fucking love Quake, first online game I ever played.
I miss the days of QWTF and Threewave CTF.
Back when I first played Quake as a kid I didn't give 2 shits about graphical fidelity, I just saw the monitor as a window into another mystical, violent, and scary world.
God damn you intelligence, what have you done to me!
Quake's Irix binaries are nice.
Quake III on the PS2 is pretty shit though. How the fuck is it even possible to release Quake without LAN support??
Quake 4 is really 7 years old? Wow, that's actually pretty surprising.
