Sci-Fi sandbox simulation game This game reminds me of SS13 This game is heavily inspired by Byond's Space Station 13. What makes our rendition better than SS13 and it's remakes? Nothing at all. We've taken a bit of a twist with Primulus, though, and instead of being on a space station, you're on a moon (Primulus) that's orbiting a gas giant. This will allow some planetary exploration and lots of other fun features (Like catching native alien creatures. What?). We feel it's a bit of a new dynamic that adds a lot more opportunities for the player. Hiding bodies isn't going to be as simple as throwing them into the empty void of space. More information about the game can be found under the "Primulus" section of the website. How long have you been working on this? and who are you? Were two friends have been working very hard to make our own Sci-Fi sandbox simulation game. We've been working consistently for about 2 months. Mind you, we're still in the very early stages of development and everything is subject to change. Check out our website and forums and follow our blog for more information about the game at:http://primulusgame.com/ Media Consturction preview: http://imgur.com/a/IsLz5 UI preview Follow us on Twitter? Thanks for reading, il be monitoring this thread for any questions!.
As long as the gameplay is fun and non-buggy, it honestly doesn't matter what the graphics are like (not that they're bad, I'm just saying that SS13-esque type games rely more on gameplay than graphics). This looks really good for two months work. Best of luck!

This, dear Sourceshift, developer of "Chernobyl", is how you showcase your project. On topic: I'm very interested to see how this turns out. Even simple graphics make can a huge difference to the clunky controls and interface many roguelikes are plagued with. I think the graphics are fine the way they are. The simpler you keep them, the easier it is to depict everything that's going on. Of course, these are no "wow, look at this magnificient shit right there" kind of graphics, but attention to detail is much more important in my opinion. In other words, as long as I can actually see what I need to see (as opposed to just reading about it), the graphics are doing their job well. [editline]19th November 2013[/editline] As a small piece of advice, before you start recording a demonstration video, you might want to clearly map out for yourself what you are going to demonstrate, how you are going to do it, and some of the most important words you are going to say. As it is now, your demo video of the atmosphere system is a little confusing because it's not clear what features you are going to demonstrate in the next step, and how you have set the whole thing up. E.g. "This is the atmosphere display. We have this and this gas. If the air recyclers are offline, the oxygen levels will go down over time while the CO2 levels rise, depending on how many people there are in the area." ... "We have six rooms in this test station, and one of them has a hole in it. I'm going to show you now how the pressure and the gas mixture even out over time if we open a door between two rooms with different atmospheric conditions."

Sorry about it., watch the second video instead. :)
The beginning of the first video does it quite well. Then there's some confusion, and the part that begins around 1:10 is also very clear and informative again.

Looks pretty cool!
Looks pretty cool!
Thanks!.
Hey everyone. Just wanted to say thanks for the feedback so far. We are aware we don't have much to show yet and we were hesitant to bring forth what we had. However, this is our first title and we thought coming out now would help us build the community over time. Thanks again for the feedback!
Will we be able to dick around in space? Because I want to dick around in space.
Will we be able to dick around in space? Because I want to dick around in space.
Primulus takes places on a moon. So you will be able to dick around on the moon.

New blog update! http://primulusgame.com/blog/
Hey Everyone. Just wanted to come by and shoot you all another update. We just announced that we will be releasing an early prototype version of Primulus for FREE. For more details check out our recent blog post. Basically, we're going to release a prototype version that will have construction / destruction elements. Players will be able to host local servers, join servers and build and create facilities with their friends. We'll also have a basic electrical grid and atmospheric calculation in place for you all to play with. We're going to strip parts of the game out that aren't done and need to be refined. Since there isn't going to be much more for the players to do, we figured it would be best to simply distribute it for free. Realistically, who wants to pay for an early prototype? As for when it will be released, we're not certain. We're GUESSING it will be Q1 2014. In other news, the free version of Unity does not have dynamic lighting available. But you can bake shadows into a scene. So we took a quick screenshot of what the game should look like once we have dynamic lighting implemented. A new blog post! http://primulusgame.com/blog/
Hey! I gotta admit, I had forgotten about this game. Nice to know you're still out there making progress on it. The free alpha is also a very good idea in my opinion. It'll go a long way towards getting people interested in your project. Best of luck!
new blog post today!, check it out! http://primulusgame.com/blog/
The graphics remind me of Runescape (that's not a bad thing), looks good!
The graphics remind me of Runescape (that's not a bad thing), looks good!
Thanks!
It's looking really good. I'll give it a try when I get the chance.
Still very much interested in this. I read through some of the recent blog posts, and it's looking great. Love that it's such a small team working on it and putting so much effort into it. Look forward to keeping up with the project and checking it out as you guys progress!

New update this thursday check it out at http://primulusgame.com/blog (new pictures!)
This looks awesome and I'm usually real skeptical of indie games. Good luck to you guys! I'll check it out when it's available. If the gameplay is anything like SS13 it may well become one of my most played games.
Hey guys!, we just launched our kickstarter a few days ago. Feel free to check it out! Also a blog post can be found here And the prototype can be downloaded here
Fixed it for ya. Anyway, game looks fantastic so far. Will make sure to back when I get some cash.
Whoops, looks like that five hour flight is showing. Thanks!
That's a really fucking shitty thing to do.
That's a really fucking shitty thing to do.
SS13 wouldn't be the game it is today without basically being modded to hell and back. The game was made by the people that played it. Modding tools means that every other stretch goal doesn't even need to exist because players will develop those features if they want them in the game.
That's a really fucking shitty thing to do.
It's need to be started more clearly on the website, Modding tools at release.
