Bloodline Champions is a multiplayer online arena game. It focuses on hard teamwork and tries to be as completely skill based as possible. Every ability for every hero in Bloodline Champions has a set damage that cannot be changed by any means. There are no critical hits. If it's a ranged ability, it has to be aimed (also know as a "skillshot"). There is no random number generator here.

Every hero (or Bloodline as they are called in game) has seven abilities unique to there hero and two universal abilities, a channeled heal over time and resurrection. These are bound to your mouse button, space bar, Q, E, R and F. All heroes have unique abilities but generally share the same properties based on the key it's bound to. Space bar is some kind of escape or leap move, the mouse buttons are your basic attack and quick ranged ability. Bloodlines come in several flavors. There are heroes dedicated to melee damage, ranged damage, tanking and healing and have 16 heroes total (four in each category). They plan to have 24 by release.

Matches take 10-15 minutes to play depending on the mode.

There is a ranking system in game already. You can solo queue by yourself or play in 2v2 or 3v3 teams. Each beta session has had it's own season of ranked play.

When you first get into the main menu you'll be presented with a "quest". Completing it will earn you one free Bloodline (character) or 3000 Bloodcoins (your choice). [B]Do the quest.[/B] It's easy and will let you explore all the modes Bloodline Champions has to offer.

When you first get into the game [B]do the tutorials[/B] (Play > Tutorials). It will give you a basic rundown of what the game is like. When you're done with that, make single player games (Play > Single Player). Pick a Bloodline and practice against bots. Use this time to acclimate yourself to how you move around in game under pressure, how your Bloodlines abilities work and what enemy Bloodlines do. It will take some time but you'll pick it up over time. Play each mode too. You may not play much of Conquest and Capture the Artifact but they're fun distractions.

Once you feel you've spent enough time in single player check out public games (Play > Private Game). They're unranked and you can mess around with actual players without being that competitive. Play these for a while until you're comfortable with playing against other people. There shouldn't be a ton of stress here, it's just about getting used to the game.

After you're level 5 you can start joining matchmaking games for 3v3 Arena and Scenarios. These are still unranked but you earn more Bloodcoins in these and people generally expect you to actually play to win. Ranked games are not unlocked until level 25, the max level.

While ever Bloodline plays differently, they generally hold similarities in where their moves are on the controls. M1 is a basic attack, M2 is an alternative attack, Space is usually a jump or movement, and R is usually your "out", aka escape ability.

Account progression is fairly new to Bloodline Champions. Account level is bound to game features such as what modes you can play, traits and medallions.

[b]Conquest[/b]
• Round-based game mode.
• Infinite amount of respawns, but with a respawn delay.
• Respawn delay increases as time goes by.
• Holding all objectives disables respawn for the other team.
• Win by holding all objectives for a set amount of time, or by killing all enemies while holding all objectives.
• Regain health at base and pick up power-up runes improves your capabilities.

[b]Why don't I have access to all the Bloodlines?[/b]

If you haven't paid for any of the packages (see below) then you will only have access to four Bloodlines that rotate on a weekly basis. To be able to keep a Bloodline you can either buy Funcom Points or play games and accumulate Bloodcoins. Every Bloodline costs 17000 Bloodcoins to unlock and once you unlock them you have them for keeps. It's a bit like League of Legends, if you've played it, but everything can be unlocked by Bloodcoins. In the Marketplace you can also buy avatars, titles, new Bloodline skins and weapons. None of these have any kind of statistical effect on gameplay. They're all cosmetic.

[b]What are packages?[/b]

Packages are...well, packs you pay for and get certain things out of them. Bloodlines, avatars, titles, sometimes skins and weapons. There are two: Champion (and the Bloodlust Upgrade) and Titan. Nothing in the packages is anything you can't get from the Marketplace, bar some special titles and icons.

• 16 Bloodlines (All but the Guardian, Seeker, Blood Priest and Stalker)
• Medium and Hard bots for single player.
• Special chat icon
• Two extra team slots for ladder (five total)
• Four Avatars

The Bloodlust Upgrade is $10 more and will get you four more Bloodlines, four weapon skins and four more avatars.

Nothing in the packages is a "must have". It's all just extra fluff for those willing to pay and time saving if you don't want to grind Bloodcoins.

It isn't something you'll learn in one game. Best advice I can give is focus on figuring out one Bloodline that's interesting. I loved the Ravener when I first played her so I learned all her moves quickly and easily and it let me learn other peoples attacks faster. The in-game knowledge base helps a lot too.

I love this game. When I started, I felt the same way. My advice is to play a game or two a day for a few weekends. What happened to me is that I was just one day able to pick out all the different abilities and play my role better. Now nothing seems chaotic, and it's a blast with friends.

Dotaesque how? It's isometric, if that's what you mean. There are classes, but there are classes in many other games too. I'm not seeing the connection you're making. This game has no items, no % chance of X occuring, no selecting (it's all aimed), no monsters, no grinding, no creeps, no ganks, no levels, and no towers.

What are the similarities?

I got invited to the closed beta but I just couldn't stand this game, although my experience was kind of ruined. They had no tutorial (do they have one now?) so I had no idea what the hell I was supposed to do. On top of that only the European server was open so I lagged like a bitch and couldn't do anything anyways. Finally the community was made up of the most elitist people ever. First I get kicked from almost all lobbies because I had a low rank (How the hell am I supposed to get it up if I can't play a single game?). Then I finally get into a game and we do horribly and my team bitches at me because I don't even know how to play the game. Finally my team starts acting like little shits and attempting to forfeit the round but I don't want to because that's just stupid. So instead they rush out into the middle of the field and just stand there until they get themselves killed. I might try it again but if the community is still that bad then no thanks.

The community is still bad, but there are plenty of good people and there is a tutorial. I would also say that the game's concept is not difficult to understand, and that people who forfeit a round are not "little shits"

Forfeiting a round is so stupid though. They're not that long and you may as well just finish it. A whole lot better than just standing still and getting killed. It looks fun enough but if the community is the same as you say then I don't think I'll even bother.
