[thumb]http://i.imgur.com/38r5fqP.jpg[/thumb] OP stolen from Username. He is a user and that is his name. ------------------------------ The short and sweet: ------------------------------ Planetside 2 is the sequel to the infamous FPSMMO, Planetside. It's an FPS, mixed with MMO-influenced features, and is notably the worlds only major-scale first person shooter that can reasonably support up to 2000 players on a single map. It is also an MMO in the sense that you align yourself with one of three empires.. The Terran Republic, the New Conglomerate, or the Vanu Sovereignty, and must progress through the game's ranks and earn points as you go to make your character more versatile. (Explained further below) Maps are large, confirmed to be up to 64 square kilometers in size. Each map is split up by hexes which your faction attempts to control by seizing outposts, facilities, towers, etc spread across the map. Hexes grant your faction a certain resource when held, which is handed out to every member of your faction on your current continent every 5 minutes - Resources are used to buy all manor of vehicles in the game, including Tanks, Aircraft, and presumably whatever else they come up with. Resources are also use to resupply you own explosives and medical kits. The game is class based in a way similar to BF3, except character progression is done via Certifications (or Certs), the main currency of the game that lets you get weapons, different abilities, etc. Certs are earned by just playing the game. You earn one cert point for every 250 points you earn doing things like capturing bases, getting kills, healing, repairing vehicles, and so on, as well as 12 free certs over a 24 hour period for just logging in every day. It is completely free to play and was released in mid November, 2012. The game offers players the chance to purchase items from the ingame store with real money, which include New Weapons and Skins for your characters, vehicles and items. It should be noted that anything that actually effects gameplay (Weapons, new abilities, etc..) can be earned through gameplay. In fact, most things that affect gameplay can only be earned by playing the game and can't be purchased through the store with real money. Many weapons and upgrades in the game work more like "side-grades" instead of straight upgrades - Such as a tank cannon that does massive damage to tanks but has a bad AoE damage and is in turn bad against infantry. This is intended to keep the balance and make it so the game doesn't become "Pay to Win". Additionally, the primary form of character progression - Certs - can never be purchased. ------------------------------ Screenshots: ------------------------------ [thumb]http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/576722372970543468/40D524CAD847C62671E0DB374A5E2A3D81B47E17/[/thumb][thumb]http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/577847181672648762/C11AE17B18FE3593D8CBA6FE59E4DD8A524722C0/[/thumb][thumb]http://i.imgur.com/DWm9s.jpg[/thumb] [thumb]http://uppix.net/5/6/9/1aacd238222f3aab45081b8eec13c.jpg[/thumb][thumb]http://filesmelt.com/dl/PlanetSide2_2012-11-30_19-18-48-99.png[/thumb][thumb]http://filesmelt.com/dl/PlanetSide2_2012-11-30_19-31-12-79.png[/thumb] [thumb]http://img811.imageshack.us/img811/4125/youknowwhattodo.jpg[/thumb] These screenshots are unknowing courtesy of Kfacat, Mislum, D4RkHaZz, and Whit3, and regular courtesy of lil_n00blett.
For that "favour" you did for Smed. You know what I'm talking about.
I swear he said it was candy I had no idea But on a more serious note, what did I get over 4000 certs for? It can't have been reimburstment for double weapons when they made them account wide, I haven't bought anything on any other characters.
smed bux
You better berrive you best be Vanu.

I saw quite a few people reporting that they got a bunch of certs as part of the reimbursement without even having spent any money on the game at all. The whole thing was a bit of a clusterfuck.
Did you buy a bundle with a weapon you already had? Because apparently if you already own even one weapon in it you would have been refunded for the full price of the bundle.
Did you buy a bundle with a weapon you already had? Welp that means I got some SC converted into certs. My LA is happy, my mozzie is happy and I am happy.

Just read up on the new Battle flow improvement system, I am not a fan. Anyone else furious with how they've removed the area influence bonus and player bonus when capping points? I feel like this is a drastic step in the wrong direction. Capping small points was a strong influence for helping increase the cap time for bigger points. In regard to the map having highlighted roads, I fear this will detract from seeing the world as a battle, and turn this into sci-fi mad-max space road hovertank warrior.

They're lattice links.
They're not roads. They're lattice links.
I heard someone call it the lettuce system. What is lattice?
I heard someone call it the lettuce system. What is lattice?
Basically a kind of hybrid between planetside 2's hexes and planetside 1's lattices In PS1 (above) there was no territory, you literally captured bases connected to a base you already owned, and eventually went o capture warpgates which linked to other conts for PS2's lattice they are implemented it'll be similar but with the hex-styling and some other facets (like you need to control a sattilite base in order to be able to capture a facility). It basically focused the fights between specific avenues of attack while also making it a bit more strategically deep because you weren't just zerging across territory, and allowing you to actually cut off assaults and other such things.
Sounds fun IMO
With the introduction of item previews I decided to take it upon myself to go through and see which helmets (for all three factions) suffer from the double helmet clipping bug. As it turns out, almost all of them do to some degree. The only helmets that don't are the composite helmets, the shitty spiked variants and the Apex helmets.
Does anyone else in the NC find the addition of common pool revolvers to be annoying? Our special pistol is supposed to be the high damage sidearm. The vanu have accuracy and the terrans have fire rate. Our edge in the sidearm department has now been completely eliminated. At least let me stick a red dot sight on my Rebel now or something.

Any idea when the map system of the test server will be implemented(wich has routes and stuff)?
Well personally I quite like having a decent side-arm. I've pretty much been using The Commissioner as a primary, it's very fun!
The bang it produces, and with the pump shotgun I feel so terrifying.
The TR TX2 Emperor is now pretty much useless too. Dunno about the vanu one.
I prefer the Beamer over both of the new revolvers, stats are way worse but at least the iron sights aren't as shit.

I have some problems and i need your opinions about it: I'm thinking of investing in 3 items, i only have 1000 certs so i can only pick one of them right now. I like all 3 but as said i can currently only buy one of them. (I'm playing as a NC medic, sometimes as a engineer and sometimes as a infiltrator.) 1. Bruiser shotgun: I love the stopping power of this thing, the slow ROF doesn't bother me that much since i'm usually healing the guys doing the actual shooting or i'm just attacking small groups of enemies. 2. Blitz SMG: I love this SMG, the damage and mag-sixe doesn't bother, would work well when i'm healing people in buildings and other tight areas, i'm not usually out in the open. Would be a nice weapon for all the classes that i usually play. 3. Skyguard: I know that the skyguard have been the topic of alot of discussions although i can't help to like it. I'm more of a support guy so picking off hostile aircraft while the real tank-aces do the job seems like a fair deal to me. I've tried all of these in the VR room but i need some information and opinions about them, third-party opinions usually help make my mind up.
Don't buy the skyguard it's fun, but the fun is offset by the "you get obliterated in two rocket pod runs" if you want anti-air, get another burster
They fucked up the vehicle balance so badly that it isn't even funny. Rocketpods are still pretty imbalanced against armor, but A2A pilots are really the only ones suffering from all of these AA buffs that they keep passing out like goddamn candy. Either teammates steal my kill and damage me in the process, or they hold the roll key and fly to the nearest spawn room full of invincible bursters, or better yet the nearest rock.

I am an awful pilot when it comes to dogfighting but I know how to use terrain and fly low, I can't think of a time when i got shot down by ground AA without being an idiot and flying over a zerg or crowded base or trying to rocketpod a burster max. Skyguard needs a buff though. I can't even remember the last time I got shot down (or even hit) by a lockon and I'm using flares 1, I don't know why people cry so much about it. Rocket pods just need to always count as top armor damage and have their damage increased accordingly, they need to hurt armor pretty bad but the current instagibbing on back damage is just bad.

A2A pilots have to chase down targets in enemy territory, which leads to me getting destroyed by flak nigh instantly. But I mean there aren't any other weapons on ESFS other than the lolpods right guys?
So I went to the SOE forums(don't kill me), there were tons of people crying about light assault being underpowered, yet I've rarely performed this well as I can with LA. I don't understand what people are doing. I just flank or jump up on top of buildings and suddenly people think I'm invisible, thier loss when I dropp C4 and bullets on their heads. I just took down a max-squad with healer, engie and all just by dropping C4 and laughing like a proper maniac.
ESF aren't really sturdy to begin with. With all the AA buffs its hard to stay in the skies without getting shot down without warning. The only times I get rocket pods to be effective is when there is no AA. And when that time comes I usually rape all the defenseless tanks on the ground with bombing runs from behind.
How's the T2 Striker? It looks pretty rad but I don't wanna jump then gun(pun intended) and just buy it just to find out my other missile launchers are better.
