Jurassic World has got me in the mood, but I don't want to just play a game like Telltale's Jurassic Park, or dig for Operation Genesis... or suffer through Turok 2008 just to fight Mama Scarface again at the end.
I want something new, and something that brings back that rush of running and hiding from a stomping TRex.
And not something multiplayer either. I don't know why all the new ones like Primal Carnage and this new Arc game are multiplayer... At least Arc only has you with other humans against AI-controlled dinosaurs. Primal pitting teams of people against teams of dinos is just... LAME to me.
And theHunter Primal looks nice... but I dunno... The AI looks lame and immersion-breaking, and the animations don't help anything. That, and one-shotting a raptor with a bow and arrow is... again, LAME.
There's gotta be SOMETHING out there. This genre feels WAY too empty for a need that so has to be filled...

Turok?
There hasn't been anything recent from it, and it's not entirely dinosaurs. There's lizard dudes too. Turok Evolution was good to me, but that's back in the GameCube era.
ARK is the best option so far, I think, despite it being early access.
Ark is incredibly fun and the devs push out updates like nobodies business.
You said no multiplayer games but honestly if you have any friends who have it, you will have a ton of fun.

It looks interesting, bit expensive though. Never really played many games with friends. Just kinda weird for me, never really enjoyed it.
I don't know if it's your kind of game, but I would wholly recommend Dino Crisis 2. It's one of my all-time favorite games, and you can pick it up for fairly cheap off amazon for the PC.

Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis for PC and The Lost World for Playstation are also very fun games I used to play all the time.

Oh, you already mentioned Operation Genesis.

The newest Turok was okay. Has one T-Rex chase scene, I think that's what you're looking for.

Putting like 7 bullets into that dinosaur actually felt.. real?! In an otherwise graphically low setting.
Honestly, I don't think there are any good dinosaur games out there that capture the "The Lost World" survival vibe. That would really be my ideal dinosaur game, a video game inspired by A.C. Doyle's The Lost World. Bunch of people go to some isolated place to explore and it all goes to shit. I've had an idea for a Doom wad like this but I lack any artistic ability to get it off the ground.
